'84 300SD gear ratios? - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Hello,

Ever since I purchased my '84 300SD I've wondered about the gear ratios and the final drive ratio. Cruising at 70-75 mph I'm around 3000rpm.

Here's some info that might help:

model: 300SD
year: 1984
chassis: 126.120
engine: 617.951
vin: WDBCB20B1EA023100

The final ratio is 3.07/1, the 1985 cars(only) used a 2.88. Going to taller 15" wheels & tires will help, but speedo error will show up.

What are the ratios for 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th?

1st = 3.68
2nd = 2.41
3rd = 1.44
4th is 1/1
