Are all four rims 7.5" wide? I would go with 225/45 17 tires. This particular size has the same outside diameter as your stock. You don't need to roll the fender to fit these rims.
You can log onto http://www.tirerack.com and check customer feedback on each brand of tire as well as performance results.
I usually stick with the top dogs Michelin, Pirelli, Dunlop, etc. At the moment I am using the Dunlop SP9000, great tires.
Try to stay away from the cheaper tires even though there are a few satisfied customers.
It's really up to you and how much you want to spend.

hi vin,
thanks for the advice. yes, all the rims are 7.5"
also i plan on lowering the car, dose this then mean i have to roll the fenders?
i do want to give my 300 the 500e look so i'm still interested in the correct procedure for rolling my fenders.
thanks!

With this particular size of rim and offset you won't have to roll the fenders even if you lower the car.
Here is my setup on my 88 300CE (stock fenders)

Eibach Sport Springs
AMG 5 spoke wheels Front 17x7.5 with 225/45-17, rear 17x8.5 with 245/40-17

I've seen 18" with 225/40 rubber without rolled fenders on a 90 300E
Unless you are getting real wide rims or different offset you don't have to roll the fenders on the 124s.

I don't think rolling the fenders will flare them at all; my understanding is that it simply folds the lip under a bit more than stock, thereby increasing clearance.

I run 16" by 7.5" rims on my 300TE, and they are ET41. Are ET37s correct? Just curious how much of a difference this makes...keep us posted.

AMG rims

i have 94 E420. i am guessing that your car has the same dimension as mine. i am using 17x7.5 AMG monoblock rims with 225 45 17 tires. i also lowered the car with eibach springs.

there is absolutely no rubbing.

Not too sure if a body shop can make it look exactly like a 500E or how much they will charge.
But I have a friend that did a complete conversion, big money $$$. He bought the fenders and front bumper with the fogs. I think he paid somewhere around $2000 just for parts.
