Duck,
I tried my best to do it and so far this is what I came up with:

Stock:

Lowered w/silver EVO II

Lowered w/Titanium EVO II

Again I'm not very good at this and getting that colour just right with the differnece in light was sorta hard. I can make it darker or lighter if you want.

One day with more practice maybe I can make it so you really cant tell somethings done to the pictures.

Hope you enjoy,

Joey

Looks really really low. Handling must be great! I really like the look of those EVO wheels on the car. They look even better on a 500E (because of the flared fenders) What kinds of brakes do you have, they look like something not OEM. (Maybe I'm wrong, I can't see to well.)

CaptAlex300E,

Actually, that picture is fake. nokia8860 lowered the car, added some gold calibers, and put on the EVO II Titanium in photoshop...we're just testing it out to see how it will look when we go through with the real thing! Did you check out some of the W124 pictures I posted around here? Do you like them? A lot of the modifications were done on your 300E...

good work, that bad boy looks so low, but so sweet hehehe.

The titanium look on it looks very good if you ask me, matches in with the car well, and gives it the appearance of a race car bred for the street.

I like it very much.

Nokia, I myself am not any kind of pro with photoshop, but I have done some very cool things, including taking someone out of a picture yesterday and putting someone else in. it came out looking soo good, you couldn't even tell I had taken two pics and made them one.

Gotta love the stamp tool ehhe.

Duck, My mind is comjpletely made up. Evo II Titanium it is, now if I can only save up the cash sooner hehe, but I think I might go with the suspension first then the wheels, but I would forgo the suspension for now ehhe.

I might just cave and save up and do both at the same time rather than one before the other, who knows. its gonna be a long strange trip if you ask me. just like the construction on my house, the car will go through many changes, and I might end up changing my mind more than once hehehe. Just like I started out on the house, only intended on doing the kitchen and bathrooms, ended up riping the whole house open. almost all new walls all the way around, new hardwood floors, new bathrooms and all. Lets hope my car mods go smoother than the 5 year remodel on the house...

hmmmm...Ashman, I am still deciding...I think it makes my car look a bit too gangster-ish/associated with the mafia/leader of a drug cartel. In terms of lowering, I think the size that TireRack suggested, 215/45R17 is meant for those who choose to lower the car, since it allows for the wheel/tire to tuck slightly better under the fender (from the Japanese site I showed you). However, the 225/45R17 will give that "lowered"/no gap in fender look if you install 'em without lowering. As I mentioned before, I saw a StarMark 300CE Cabriolet with 225/45R17 in the M-B showroom without fender roll and lowering, and it looked LOW, and the wheel well looked filled. So I think I may go the route of gettin' the wheels first, stickin' on 225/45R17, and lowering the car later on...and swapping to 215/45R17 if those are better for that application. The wheels, hmmmm...I'm still a little shaky...maybe you can jump into the pool first to see if the water is cold or not, and I'll follow later??? he he...just joking...we'll see...

I would actaully go for suspension first then wheels. I dunno, I guess Im into dropped cars more. And as Duck pointed out when you usally upgrade the wheels and tyres with a plus type you tend to show off more gap, making it look like an SUV if anything.

Here's a pic of ducks car dropped on stocks. I also gave you clear corners.

nokia8860,

I was checkin' out scottyc190e's, and was checkin' out the mods you made to your car. In terms of the H&R's, how many inches did it drop your car, and I'm sure you considered the Eibach's when you got the springs...how many inches did the Eibach's drop? Also, do you have any pix of your interior? It says you installed a MOMO carbon fibre shift knob...in terms of the metal shaft that you mounted it to, did you just use a knife and rip off the orignal leather knob and plop the new MOMO on, or did you go out and buy a new shaft, and kept the original shifter intact? If so, where do you find this new shaft, any part #? Thanx.

Duck if You are right about the Titanium finish being a charcoal grey, then perhaps the polished ones will be the choice, or I'll cave and go for some AMG Monoblocks or 5 stars, but I think the EVO II's will look very good.

Looking at it now, and after seeing your response, I have looked again and been thinking about it.

I had thought the titanium finish was like a metallic grey like the bbs pic, or they were like a matte black wheel just about.

I think they would be good in titanium as the brake dust will not show as easily??

But If they look like the way on the modded pic, you might just be right that it looks kind of awkward. though I have heard that on silver, white, black and a couple of other colors they really look good.

Though I guess it wouldn't be as bad as those anodized red, blue, yellow, or gren wheels you see on some cars.

I would love them in silver, but they don't make them in 7.5" width, and 8.25 is way too wide I think.

The 5 star C class sport wheels I think look like 5 star Evo II's. They look good.

I think the bekkers pics are too dark and off in color too. The titanium finish should be a medium metallic grey I think, kind of inbetween black and silver. That would be my guess. I think on my car, with the monotone, the euro lights, lowered a bit, and an AMG body kit, the car would look very good.

But the package doesn't work if the wheels don't look right. for that kind of look, 17's are a must if you ask me. so Duck now I have to question myself on What friggin wheels in 17x7.5 do I get?!?!?! ehehe

Thanks for making me think about it. hehehe now I'm going to have to work on what wheels will look good. time to take some side pics, find some pics of various wheels I like, and put it together to get the idea of how it will look.

I am not 100% set on the titanium finish, but I kinda didn't want to go polished, and the silvers don't come in 7.5 inch, so we shall see hehe. I kind of dig the look of the S class 16's on the car from the 2000-01 S class. Saw a convertible on E-bay with them, looked nice. maybe even the 7 spokes from the clk's....

What do you think?

Damn long post ehehehe I don't even know what I said in the beginning.. Probably just a bunch of blabbering.

duck,
I'm not a fan of Eibach so I never really checked out the drop for their springs. H&R advertise a 1.3in drop and with the 1 dot pad my rear wheels are tucked in the fender and the front is right at the fender lip.

The shiftknob install on the W202 is different than the W201 or W124 where the shaft does not need to be replaced. Simple undo the lower collar by twisting it and it slides right off. The installation of the MOMO knob is like any installation you would do to a manual car.

I actaully got the MOMO knob from Paul(he has an SLK here on the board but I dont know if he still post here)

Here's a shot (abit bad) of the interior)

Duckmuck,

I lowered my former 1985 190D with Eibachs (approx.6cm) and my current C-class with Bilstein/Eibach (I thought I had bought Bilsteins, but Eibach was still on the springs) and the car is lowered approx. 4-5cm.
I drove a minor 200k km with that 190D within 3 years and have driven my lowered C for a simple 225k km within 3 years as well. The Eibachs were never to be complained about & are good for me...

The shift knob install of the early C-classes is the same as the install of the shifter knobs in the W201 and W124. The early C-classes had a shaft with a threaded end as well to screw the knob on top.
As far as I know, lots of different knobs can be bought and put on...(even for automatic transmissions)...

Ashman,
As far as my taste goes, I do like the EVO II wheels; they are about the best looking wheels mercedes currently has got in their delivery program. I want to have a set of 17" silver ones for my 300CE conv. before I take it to the states.
They will definitely suit your black benz!!

greetingz,

Ashman,

Since you are my unofficial wheel shopping partner, I'll let you in on a little secret. Top secret sources (actually, akry from this forum) told me that the EVO II Titanium's have the same finish as the wheels on this Audi TTS:

Notice that it is not simply matte/dull gun metal, but has an alloy shine to it, and is quite matching to the black pearl on my car. He told me this a while ago, so I don't recall his VERY words...which reminds me, he is probably lurking around here right now, SO AKRY, SPEAK UP AND TELL US WHAT YOU KNOW!!!

In terms of the shift knob, I've been lookin'...but no luck. Can't find anything that will match, and I don't want a wood shift knob. Nothing looks good in my car. I have to talkin' about springs/shocks with you guys sometimes though. Let's keep the ideas and pictures rollin' in...

Duck I think you can put on the 500E/Sl600 shift knob, from what I can remember about my post on the shiftknobs int he shop classifieds.

Otherwise I would recomend going to a machine shop to see if they can make you a shaft to fit any of the newer knobs on, or other knobs (i.e. momo, nardi, etc etc.)

I bought a burlwood knob from capitol west, price was good, shipping fast, the wood matches quite well, almost perfect. Looks very good, and came on a new shaft and all. install was a snap.

I myself love the look fo the new style knob with the mb star on them, but didn't want to bother with getting a custom shaft made, so I bought an all wood one which I like. looks better than the marked up leather one I had.

If the wheels do look like the color of the Audi ones, then I'm definately going for it. I had figured they would look like the silver but a slightly darker tone of silver/grey.

Ashman,

Just as a side note, I blashed an E-mail off to http://www.performances.com located in Vancouver concerning genuine AMG stuff, i.e. wheels, bodykits, etc. etc...I'll update you in regards to the prices when I get an E-mail back. They actually replied very promptly, but thought a '95 E420 was a W210 instead of W124!

I look forward to your inquiry.
