Does anyone know if you can get euro headlights cheaper out of the US, like maybe a Canadian dealer?
Secondly, has anyone tried any of the following bulbs? Are they worth changing? Wagner Brite Lite Philips Premium GE High Output Sylvania XtraVision Thanks |
I tried a Canadian dealer for the Euro lights - price quoted was initially cheaper, BUT, they wouldn't take a credit card, said that the price would vary with the exchange rate, also said export duty would have to be paid and determined at border at time of shipping, and finally, wouldn't quote me a shipping price, said they would ship it collect. So much for NAFTA, it sounded like it was going to cost in the same ballpark as US places. Check the search on Euro lights, I bought mine used for about $300 per pair, someone else paid even less for new.
Before I bought the Euro lights, I tried the Wagner and Sylvania extra bright bulbs. SLIGHTLY brighter, still a crummy pattern. Don't waste your time/$, just bite the bullet and go for the Euros. Easily 3 times the light on the road with standard 55/60 bulbs, let alone H4 extrabrights or overwattage bulbs. Also, much better and more usable light pattern. I have never been flashed by oncoming traffic when I am on low beam, even with the +30 Hella extravision bulbs. By comparison, I drove with the old US high beams and Wagner extra brite 9004 bulbs on for 10 miles following my wife home one night. She didn't know I had the high beams on, and I was never flashed by oncoming traffic. ------------------ JCE 87 300E, 65k miles Smoke Silver |
