300e tdc sensor.

could someone please explain to me what type of sensor the TDC sensor (on the front of the engine) is? is it hall effect or reluctor? what is the pinout. i am running a haltech e6a in my 190e on a 3.0L m103 and I have got tired setup failing due to cheap aftermarket sensors and would like to use the factory ones. I have got the rear (flywheel) sensor to work but need a homing sensor and I believe the front sensor will work for this. i am aware that the tdc sensor is only used for diagonstic at the X11 connector. If anyone could tell me anything about the TDC (reference sensor) it would be great thanks.

The front sensor is a reluctor, the output is also used for the tach. If you email me I'll send you detailed graphs of the outputs side by side so you can properly interface the outputs to your Haltech. Are you going forced induction or NA? Did you swap the manifold or modify the CIS manifold to do EFI?
Thanks!

My setup ->

m103 3.0L

CIS-E removed and replaced by accel fuel rail and injectors (36lb)
adjustable fuel pressure regulator (aem i think)
msd dis-4
haltech e6a
gm coolant and air temp sensors

I am currently running NA but I look to go for a turbo setup at some point (probably when I graduate and have more money)

I dynoed the car and got
Car dynoed with 158 hp at 5700
and 161 pounds torque at 4450
(at the wheels)

which I wasn't too happy with but it wasnt running as well as it could be. I mounted a disk where the distributor was and installed magnets and a hall effect but didnt get it quite right. Now my hall effect sensor has failed and I would like to use the factory sensors.

The hall effect off of the distributor output is optimal, that's the way I'm going. Try advancing the timing more and running 100+ octane for safety. If the power output is still not satisfactory beef up the valvetrain and run it up to 8K RPM. Still not enough? Move to 11.5:1 compression pistons. Ofcorse this would require a lot of work given you would have to rebuild the entire engine however the results would pay off.

How many load sites do you have filled in your ignition and fuel maps? What is your average AFR? Send me a copy if your maps and i'll take a look at what you have.
