Well, I have come close to deciding upon my MBZ wish-list for the coming 10 years or so:

300 CE-24V (5sp, if one actually exists!) or a 560 SEC

SL600, early-mid 90's vintage (I'll be lookin' for a silver one)

and, finally, pie in the sky, a true EVO II (I'll have to bend over and pay the cost of USA DOT/EPA compliance --currently about $10K)

I'd be happy for any feedback from you folks on these cars, particulary any knowledge/comparison of the 300CE-24V and the 560 SEC.

300CE BRABUS-check it out!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=549982728&r=0&t=0

I'm not sure if this is a 24V but it does seem to be a beautiful example of what Brabus does with benzes. Check it out!

Revbond, Your list looks A whole lot like my list.

i already have the 300Ce-24.

whenI was buying the 300Ce It was a decision between the 560SEc and the 300CE. i love both the cars, but i decided at this point in my life i wanted the smaller car. The 560SEc is a very good lookign car, and the v8 is plenty powerful. I would have been completely happy with that car over the 300ce and vice versa. I will someday also have a 560SEC to go along with my coupe. hmmmm Now thats an Idea. one of every coupe mercedes made. that would be a very nice collection indeed.

My dad has a 94 SL600, kiler car, super fast, and its a beast. with the 18 inch AMG wheels, that thing looks as good as it performs.

As for the Real EVO II, again, an excellent choice on a hard to find really unique car.

some others on my list would include a nice classic early 70's 280sl. I just think they are really cool little cars.

And of course the ultimate dream machine, a 300SL gullwing. hehe

alon

I would like a 500SL (R129) as well and will also look for a clean 560SEC like the this one,

Here is the link for more pictures, http://www.dhc.net/~pmhack/mercedes/560sec891.HTM

With the new AMG models expected with the superchargers like the 5.5L, a 4 door will be high on the list as well!

The 300CE-24 is a nice car to drive; I have a convertible version of that car and like it a lot. I don't think that they were ever sold with a manual 5-speed, but I am not sure about that.
The european SEC's rust a lot. I have been looking for one for one of my friends, but couldn't find a really descend one.
SL600...I went for the smaller version of that convertible; it is not as expensive to buy and to drive as the 600...

Personally I would like a 190 2,3-16 or CLK230 compressor to play around with. I love the sound of these engines at high rpm's!

greetingz,

Rethinking this question, I would also include some "European" metal.

Such as a 2.5 liter Evo II,
any original AMG Hammer in good condition,
and how out the C55. I have yet to see ANY info/review/data on this car yet I know it was produced for the Eurpean market.

MBenz, can you confirm if the European market has any such cars floating around? The C55 must be a real monster!
