I am a member of this forum for exactly one month today and thought that my 200st post should be the announcement of my own web site being published today!
It took a lot of time and the site still isn't finished yet, but I hope the members of this forum will be so kind to have a look at my site and give me some feedback about the lay out and contents.
The site is completely in english and contains several pages and pictures (take a cup of coffee before you visit the site).

Let me know what you think of it....

thanks in advance and greetingz,

Mbenz:
What a great site - lots of fantastic MB pics and the detailed info on parts #s for the modifications you have done will be useful to other C owners as well. About the only downside I could find was that the red lettering on the intro page was a little hard to read against the black and white "negative" image of the car. Perhaps fading out the car image some would make the lettering more readable. (And of course Tripods pop up banners - I am still trying to configure my firewall to completely block these) Otherwise a really cool site from the short tour I took.

What part of the US will you be working in, and will you be here for the Atlanta opening?

Regards,

Hey, I can't find the directions on how you got your wiper to rest vertically...I thought you said you would post 'em with the site!!!

elau 02-02-2001 12:53 PM

Thanks for sharing!! What a great site. Can't wait to see your project on the R129. May even "steal" some of your ideas.

Duckmuck:
there are two links to the vertical parked wiper page; one is on the model "97 page of the 1993 C250D and one is on the 1985 190D page.

JCE:
I have tried several other colors, but think I have to do something about the picture in the back ground (the red is difficult to read).
I will probably start next april in Greenville (SC) for a couple of months and move to Denver (Colorado) after that. I will probably be working in one or two different offices of the company I work for, but I don't know where yet.
I plan to make a road trip through the states from east-west-east when the project is finished. Atlanta will not work out I guess.

If you head to Southern California on your trip, probably a lot of members besides myself would like to meet up with you for coffee/sightseeing/dinner/whatever. Probably everyone along your trip route would want to show you the local sites and tell you about routes, etc. (you may not have to buy a meal all the way across country, the way this site is growing!)

MBenz,

WONDERFUL! I've waited for this day forever, since some while ago when you said you would expose how you did it when your homepage was up!!! THANX!

JCE,
I keep that in mind; I just ordered myself a laptop and hope that I can find an american plug to the WWW and this site (should be possible) so I can keep communicating with the rest of the world in general and the shop forum especially.

Duckmuck,
I want to tear down a W201 and W124 to make some wiper pictures as well; the wipers of these models are easier to change (but additional pictures will make things a lot easier).

It is weekend now; I hope everyone takes some time for my web site and feed me with their comments. It is the first site I build and want to know whether it is easy to read and use. Keep it coming!
Members with a C-class should definitely take a look...

I checked out you site again, for the third time. Great site! After I lower my car, mount my OZ wheels, and do a few other things to make it look sporty enough (though I'm sure it won't look as great as yours!), then I will vertically mount the wipers. As a touring car racing fan, only other fans of this sport will understand, thats the great thing, like a secret bond. Your W202 is really great! Keep us posted about where you'll be in the states.

troydewan 02-03-2001 02:19 PM

Awesome!

Hey MBenz,

Your site was really great. I love your the retrofitted AMG interior - thanks for all your help on my car over the last couple of months. You included some great information in the website for C-Class owners. BTW, where did you buy your leather interior - because that is one thing I wish my car had - can you get it cheaper over there than in the US? I suppose I would need new front seats (at least upholstery) and new rear bench and backrest as well as 4 door panels. Anyhow, Good site - keep it going!

Thanks for the replies and compliments.
I got some complaints on my site from mbnz.org-visitors and therefore changed the lay out of my site. I hope it is a bit easier to route now...

re: your website

thanks for sharing your "very excellent" website!

you are definetly the "mercedes modification man"

when you come to the states i'd like to try to catch up with you as i'm sure others would also.

how is your work coming on the '93 convertible?

great website!

IMPRESSIVE SITE!!!

How did you find the IN PRO all red tail lights on you 190D?

How did they look ? Quality ? Do you recommend them?

What line of work are you in anyway? You've got quite a collection of Mercedes-Benz cars that make me drool!!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

MBenzNL 02-09-2001 03:33 PM

ebennz,

Thanks for the compliment! I will start the modification of the "93 convertible within two weeks and will show you the result when I am in the states. I definitely want to meet some of the shop members when I am going to make a road trip through america!

SHYNE,

Thanks for the compliment.
The IN PRO red taillights were of a good quality and looked very good. Personally I prefer them over the black, smoked taillights (especially when you install them into a light colored car). If you like the color of these lights, I will definitely recommend them.

The collection is not mine (I only own three of the displayed cars (and the 190 was formerly owned by me) and there is no reason to drool.

NICE SITE

Mbenz, kick ass site man. I really like the info you provide and the cool pics. I envy the time and money you get to spend on your machines! It definitely does mean something when you personalize, upgrade, and modify your own car. Sure, it may be easier to go out and buy a vehicle already equipped. But you lose the fun and experience of going through the transformations. Like, when we upgrade wheels/tires and suspension. You know how it felt before and after. Or when you change the interior or lights, you look at it and know how much better it looks now compared to then. Most people really don't understand why we do these "crazy" things to just an automobile, but it's mostly personal pride in your ride and a love for a Mercedes Benz. Keep having fun, and send over a C36 drivetrain for my 124 :D !

MBenz,

Umm, I am not sure if I am reading/seeing this correctly, but it seems as though your windshield wiper is sitting in the upright position in the middle of the windshield.

Is this intentional ?

I have seen a couple of Honda Civics like this, but I assumed something had gone amiss with the wiper system, and that was where it stuck, and the owner had not had a chance to fix it, because it looked very strange, even for a Honda.

If in fact this is intentional, does this not interfere with your line of vision ?

Also, you say you have been a member for 1 month and you already have over 200 posts ? Wow, the construction industry must have changed. When I was in construction a few years ago, there was no time to fool around with stuff like computers during a job. You must be spending a lot of nights on the computer. I guess a benefit of being a site supervisor is you don't have to do all the hard labor all day and don't get as worn out (maybe)

The wiper in the middle comes from DTM and BTCC. If you don't know what DTM and BTCC is, then you are not a true automotive race fan.

02-11-2001 02:23 PM

Uhh, OK.

I actually made no claim to be an avid race fan (I watch when I can) but I do not recall seeing a 300CE on the track with the DTM cars with their vertical wipers.

MBenzNL 02-12-2001 06:34 PM

BZP,
thanks for the compliments and you are right: I like the completely modified C class better as the 300CE or 300SL. It is fun to tear a car down and build it up into something completely different. Unfortunately I do not spend that much time and money on my car(s)...the C class pays itself since I use it for my work and a single day of from that work is always difficult.
I started modifying my 1993 300CE last saturday. I am going to upgrade it into a (lowered) 1994 W124 E class...

trent,
that is about the most heard reaction: Yes, it is supposed to stay that way and it does not interfere with my line of vision. If you ask whether it is necessary that the wiper is put up vertically...NO, but it is something that makes the car's front look different and I only have this vertical parked wiper on my C class.
And about the constructing industry: the construction of antenna sites is not as hard as house- and industrial construction and as being a supervisor I do not have to do hard labor...and believe me, I had to get used to that since I have worked in a car repair shop for several years during my college time (instead of going to college). Fooling around with the computer, however, I do in the evening and at night because I am on the road and up the masts during the days...

DTM FAN,
thanks for the back up

greetingz,

What kind of antenna's ? Microwave/cell/TV ? Just curious.

MBenzNL 02-21-2001 01:34 PM

...antenna's that make the cell phones work like they should...
I work with GSM900MHz, DCS1800MHz and UMTS1900MHz antenna's and the additional dish-links (26/38GHz) for data transmittal...
Currently I am sitting in a german cyber "cafe" behind a very slow computer and a "qwertz" keyboard whilst I am used to an "aserty" keyboard...So, my work does not leave me enough time to enjoy any compu fun; I have to use my spare time for that.
