Hi all!

It's time to replace the injectors on my 87 190E-16V and before I go and buy stock replacements, I'd like to have some advice on performance injectors. If/where can I get high-flow injectors that fit? What kind of performance gains could I expect? Right now the engine is stock, but I have a lot of mods in the works, including: custom intake, custom exhaust, high performance cams, big-bore throttle body, and turbo (someday). Would these mods make more power if coupled with better injectors? M.B Doc, Benzmac, what do you guys use in your race cars? What problems could be caused by getting different injectors?

Seeking enlightenment

I don't have a race car, YET.

I think I would go with the stockers at first. IF you want more power, I think the EFI kit is the only way to go. I think it would take a while and big money to install and dial in, but once done, WOW what a difference precise fuel metering and exact ignition timing can make. There are several kits on the market.

The big ones that are all the rage now and can take the turbo applications are FEL_PRO, Accel DFI, and a few smaller companies.

Some of these are really good in my opinion.

Oops..I though you had a 16V racecar

Hey Benzmac,

Sorry, I thought you had a 16V racecar. Since you don't, what are you waiting for?!? J/K, hehe. Thanks for the reply. Do you have any idea what the HP gains would be if I went with a complete EFI kit? Would maybe 30HP be realistic?

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this subject?

Thanks,

The only reason to intrduce higher flow injectors is that your introducing more air, via intakes, TB's, exhaust(which don't really reqiure more fuel, but unrestrict their flow), but more appropriately bigger displacement or a blower which will require more fuel. Fuel injectors are not cheap especially the oem ones, for now your could have the originals balanced and blue printed and wait to upgrade when you know exactly how much fuel you need to supplement w/the blower. A great source of info on this subject is http://www.rcengineering.com, I had injectors and TB's milled and balanced here w/some real good results, pricing is much better than going through an aftermarket middleman aswell.
Just my opinion
