Hey everyone. I have a question. I am wondering how to take off the driving lights on my '93 400E. I want to keep the side markers and fogs on. I know this sounds strange, but this would be used for AutoX only. The air intake to the engine is incredibly restrictive.

Also, while on the subject. What is the easiest way to take off the side markers? I am changing to clears sometime next week.

Thanks for your time.

The procedure for exchanging your indicators is described in the thread Clear Blinkers Just a simple electrical disconect and tab squeeze on the back of the indicator and they pull right out.

By driving lights, do you mean the headlights? The headlights and fog lights are one unit, and can't be removed independently. Someone earlier described how they had removed their headlight wipers and the metal trim panel under the lights to make openings for air intakes, but I don't remember who it was, and if it was for the engine or the brakes that they used the airflow. Will you get up enough speed in an AutoX event to benefit from the extra air?

Thanks for the info. I didn't know they were one unit. I think you're right about the speed in AutoX. Right now I have the tubs running from the light housing to the air filter (I don't know what to call it) removed. I have noticed an improvement in sound and throttle responce, especially at low revs. I figured that this would only improve the situation. It should sound great if I ever get an aftermarket exhaust.

I need to think now. Thanks.
