Hey guys!
This is going to sound very weird but I think I just bought a brand new complete set of H&R sport springs for $125 out the door!! Here's the scoop: I saw one of the threads in the performance paddock that said there are some sport springs made by Neuspeed that are on sale only over the internet for $125 and that there were only 4 more sets left at this price. I'm thinking, Neuspeed is a pretty popular name, especially amongst the VW people out there and that I'd go ahead and give them a shot. If I didn't like them, oh well, $125, big deal, no harm done, I'll just sell on e-bay. Anyway, I finally got them last night, I opened up the box, and it's a Neuspeed box with 4 black springs inside of it. I thought this was kind of odd since Neuspeed sport springs are red, not black. On further inspection, I notice the Neuspeed logo on the springs was stamped over a spot that looked like it had been rubbed off. Hmmmm, very odd. The springs are in perfect condition, unused and ready for mounting. The springs also have numbers stamped on them, I guess item numbers. Here's the kicker: I just happen to be flipping through the Performance Products (IMPCO) catalog, Fall/Winter 2000, for the W124 series, when I get to page 12. I'm looking at the H&R sport springs and they look really similar to the Neuspeeds I have. On further inspection and further scrutiny of the picture, I notice that the numbers marked on the H&R springs are EXACTLY the same numbers on my Neuspeed springs. Front spring numbers are 29 569 VA and the rear springs are 29 569 HA. It's all making some sense now. These springs I hold before me are indeed H&R sport springs, not Neuspeeds, and they were only $125 shipping included, straight from Neuspeed themselves. Now I don't know what the heck is going on over there. Maybe Neuspeed and H&R springs are made by the same manufacturer or maybe they are affiliated some how and these were put in the wrong box. All I know is that I got one hell of a deal and if you are looking for H&R springs, I'd hurry up before the next guy reads this thread. I'm going to call Neuspeed tomorrow and find out what's going on. Later!
