DoOd,

Since you basically took apart your w202 and put it back together maybe you can help me with my little project.

My 1997 came with the built in cellphone that interfaces it with the radio. What I'm trying to do is convert the OEM phone to fit my Motorola phone. The connection to the phone is a RJ45 connector but I have no clue what the colours mean. You wouldn't happen to have a wiring diagram laying around.

As for the part that plugs onto the phone, I've got that covered I just need a wiring diagram of the OEM phone and how it hooks up. So far the colours are...

White, Green, Brown, Yellow, Orange, Purple, Red, Blue... but what do they mean?

Hope you can help.

Joey.

Dont worry I got your back on mbworld. There are alot of trolls there.

nokia8860,

(it is strange that I cannot remember the # even though I am working for nokia...)

As you know, european vehicles are not half as luxurious as their american equals. My car did not have a cell phone and currently has an after market Nokia car kit.
However, I still have a C36 AMG leftover cell phone and will look at the wires tomorrow (it is nearly 2.15h now and I have to be at work at 8 again...).
As far as I have looked closely to the wires of that phone they are the same color.
I will get back to this within 20 hours...

What do you mean exactly with that last sentence; I had a look at your site being linked from there...
I just saw your DoOd after I submitted my reply...do you know what that means in dutch?

greetingz,

Thanks for your help. It would be cool if you could find out the wiring diagram for the phone.

As for the last sentence, on mbworld some ppl dont have a clue as to whats going on and just flame like it was going out of style.

Joey,

I took a look at the wire harness and cell phone I have lying around. The colors you mentioned are from the connector that goes from the phone to the booster/main device. The wires go into the main device with the colors you mentioned, but come out with a totally different color-code...
The wires that go to the phone itself are connected directly to the main device and I cannot see what color wire is connected to what cell phone part...there has to be a permanent power, a switched power, a ground and 4 wires for microphone and speaker running into the phone...

The connector at the main device is sealed and the color coded cables that come out there and run into the mercedes system are easy to track, but that will probably not help you any further...

leider weis ich es auch nicht...

greetingz,

Nokia,

You said that you wanted to change the MB phone for your own phone...Do you want to exchange the phone hook for your own handy with a cradle or?
In europe we have a lot of handy's in cradles and it looks like this:

If you want to exchange the existing phone for a cradled (after market) one, isn't it easier to connect the phone to the mercedes system before the main cell phone device/booster?

greetingz,

I wanted to utilzed the stock hands free kit. so that when my phone rings it will ring through the audio system and then my stock radio will say phone on the display and thus mute it when i answer. hence the frustration with the wiring diagram.

Here is a pic of what I have so far.... yeah it didnt work but I'm getting close

Here you can see the stock OEM phone (bottom right) and its connection (RJ45)

On the top you can see my motorola phone and a motorola adaptor that I hacked to interface with the MB unit. So far nothing but ozone. I do believe I got somewhere as when I pluged the phone in my "quick dials" on the dash lighted up and said "service" however nothing else. So I think its just mis matched wires.

Geeezzzzeee... all this just so I can use the stock hands free.
