500E Wagon?

What the heck is this? I'm guessing it's a 124 TE with a 500E facelift, flared rear fenders and a M120 bored to 7.3. However, the article calls it a 500E. Could this have been a factory produced frankenstien?? I cannot translate the text, can anyone here help? Definately cool either way!!

HOLY *****!!!! How in the heck did they stuff a 12 banger in there ???? Bet that is one fast son of a gun . If that isn't factory with the beautiful flaring job, some independent did a beautiful job.

I've seen an M120 in a 124 before. I'm sure that thing is hella fast! It's the fender flaring that amazes me. in the front it could just be a parts swap but the rear would have taken some work. Looks like it also has the bucket seats too. I wonder what's with the "AMG" coverup on the license plate, I don't see anything AMG about it. If i'm not mistaken, AMG did a 7.4 M120 not A 7.3.

If you think about it,,, the beast probably has a complete SL600 running gear under it. Would love to see all that it took to get to that end. I lust after that look and would settle for a 119, but even that would be a bundle of bucks, even doing it myself. I would settle for an E55 wagon, but unfortunately, they don't come cheap either.

The page says that the chassis modifications were done to resemble a 500E.

AMG does 7.3L V-12s

You may remember the green SL73 that Road & Track ran in the 0-150-0 test?

AMG (and to an extent, Mercedes-Benz) will do custom work for customers that seek it. Of course, tsaid customer has to have enough money to persuade either or both to accept the project.

BTW, records of one-offs or custom work were/are rarely kept by AMG & Mercedes, so verification can be...challenging.

Hi I posted pictures of this beast before, the story goes that the customer had owned a Hammer estate and wanted a last of the line 124T converting, but AMG were not prepared to do the conversion probably tied to MB by this time. The car was built by AMG employees in their own time using the running gear from a 129SL73 and 124 E60, the car even as many 129 interior parts i.e full wood console panel!. I wonder where she is today? Cheers Linds

Wouldn't that be a TE73? or E73T?
