Julio,
If you still were looking for a muffler for your car, here is a picture of mine with a Remus muffler. It doesn't hang down so low, and it looks pretty stock. I like it, what do you think? http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1536436&a=11641764&p=41319450 Ryan, 92 400e |

Ryan,
Do you have any side pics of the Remus? Also, how does it sound compared to stock? |

Jettpilot,
Here's a side view, you might be able to see the exhaust. The tone is much more throaty now at full throttle, and the car doesn't "run out of steam" going up long steep hills anymore. At idle and regular driving, you can barely hear something is different though. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1536436&a=11641764&p=41325147 Ryan, 92 400e |

Hey, that's pretty darn tasty there! It's not a cat-back, correct? Also, roughly how much for the muffler and install? That's exactly the look that I'm aiming for... I want the exhaust coming out of the factory cutout- otherwise it looks kinda silly. Do the tips curve around like the stock ones before exiting, also? (basically, is the Remus in the same location as the stock muffler, with the tips coming out the valance cutout?)
thanks for the pix, -Dr. Julio Fuentes, BS MD PhD

One more thing, Ryan... are you running 18's on your 400E? What tire size? Also, how come you haven't lowered it? (You'll be glad you did.... : ) I couldn't believe the difference when I dropped mine.)
enjoy your ride, -Doc

Julio,
The muffler isn't cat-back, and the tips do exit out the stock valance. It cost me around $700 (ouch!) for the muffler, and about $30 to install at a local muffler shop. These photos are a couple of years old, and I did have 18x8" Carlsson 1/16 rims with 225/40 Pirelli rubber back then. Didn't like the "monster truck" look, so I lowered it. Had BIG problems with fender rub (TOO WIDE), so had to take those wheels off. Since then, I have put 17x7.5" AMG 5 spoke 203 rims with 215/45 Pilot Sport tread. No problems since, and the car rides ALOT better. Also had K&N filters, and PAD computer chip installed. Good stuff! Ryan, 92 400e |
