I need the boot lid off a 1993-1997ish W202. I wanna go with the euro look and want the boot lid with the 520mm cut out for the euro plate.
I'm figuring since steve sources his amg kit from salvage yards he might be able to point me to a supplier there so that i can import it back to the states. A bit on the crazy side, i know, but well yeah know you cant really justify car enthusiast purchases. regards, Joey |

Joey,
I am currently located in Germany and will mail you when I am back home next weekend (the cyber store I am in is about to kick me out, they want to close the shop). If you do change the trunk lid, why don't you change it for a 1998 model trunk lid? I will get back to this. gruße aus Stuttgart,

thanks man. I'll look forward to your mail.
About the 98+ trunk lid. I have a 97 model with the older style key. The 98+ models in the states (i dunno about the euro ones) switched to the keyless (where you start the car without the key) design and I need the older lid because of the IR that sits besides the lock on the boot. Hope to hear from you. Joey |

Joey,
If you change your trunk lid into the european style, you will need a different handle as well. The license plate lights are probably the same. The european "98 models did change to the keyless design, but that is not a problem... The pre "98 trunk lid locks were mechanical controlled and the after "97 trunk lid locks are vacuum controlled. I have a "98 trunk lid on my 1993 C class as well. The locks are different and I had to order a complete new trunk lid lock. I changed the inner plates of the lock itself, so my original key still fits the trunk lid lock. I submitted a second vacuum pump (of the W201 central door lock system) to operate the trunk lid lock and I can even open the trunk lid from the inside (I only need to install the switch, but the wires are already in place and function well). The IR that sits besides the lock is probably the receiver for your remote controlled key?? The european W202 models never had that receiver in the trunk lid. If I can get you a european trunk lid, it will be without the IR location! The european C class had the receiver for the remote control in the rearview mirror. You do have some digital pictures of your car; can you send me one (by mail) of the rear with the trunk lid and the mentioned IR? my mail address is s_krabbenborg@hotmail.com greetingz,
