Forged Pistons for 300 ce 24 V
 

Hello, does anyone knows where to find forged pistons for a 300 Ce 24 v 1992?

Why forged? Today's cast pistons work wonders, especially those cast with hypereutectic silicon-aluminum alloys.

Shoot, anyone that makes pistons should be able to get the right size? Wiseco, JE, etc..
Sort of unrelated, I read that the hypereutectic silicon-aluminum alloy is not so good with the forced induction? any truth to that?

Hi, In Bentley´s W124 Bible, says connecting rods are forged but pistons although refined and resistant aren´t.
Some months ago i used NOS on my engine and it nearly made it blow, due to fuel distributor major failing and MB tough parts the whole engine didn´t die. I think i must upgrade to Forged since MB originals, aren´t enough for turbo or
(-+)100 HP NOS, i know nothing about hypereutectic...please tell me more where to find info.
Also, Wiseco couldn´t help much and only found original at mercedesengines.

A eutectic alloy is one in which the alloy metal is in saturation with the base metal. No more will dissolve. Hypereutectic means you have too much.

I haven't heard of problems using hypereutectic pistons with nitrous or forced induction. I seem to recall instructions in some KB pistons for nitrous or forced induction for proper ring gapping, which is even more critical for hypereutectic pistons.

The biggest advantage of hypereutectic is lower piston expansion, which means that you can have less piston to bore clearance. I set up my (NA) Harley with about .001" clearance, which is about half of what I would need for forged pistons on that air-cooled engine.

I doubt that KB or Weisco make pistons for any Benz, but I believe that you can get custom-made pistons in pretty much any configuration. But note that if you lose fuel while supplying nitrous, you'll burn up any piston.
