Question New Headlights for a W124

What do you think about these new style headlights in eBay.

Do you guys like them better than these one from Katmac :

4) http://www.katmac.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=KI&Product_Code=124HL-CRYSTAL&Category_Code=EHQ

These new ones on eBay, they are 5 pin, so I guess you have to change to the Euro 6 pin too? I wonder if they take an H4 bulb like the Euros and Katmac, or you have to still use the 9004 bulbs.

BTW, I have the ones from katmac, but I haven't put them in yet.

I believe the consensus for the first ones are they look terrible!
The Crystal clear ones are nicer and you can do a search for some pics of it on a 500E.

imho, if you really want/need to see with at night-the oe european spec lights are the only way to see.

these give you a far superior beam pattern with a sharp cut off and update the appearance of our cars.

if you want to do this once and for all, buy hella or bosch OE lights. you will NOT regret it.

i have 2 w124 cars and no question it's the best money i've spent on them, period. i've gone all the way twice with bosch euros, beam adjuster and euro wiper conversion.

i wouldn't touch the e-bay ones with a ten meter cattleprod...that's just me.

I also agree. the first ones are an abomination. The second ones are not too bad....but still.

Where did you buy the euro wiper conversions? Did you use your old valances, or did you get new ones?

I find the ones with the inset mock-projector housings on ebay strangely appealing...

...but I bet they're made shoddily, fit badly, and don't put out any better a beam than the DOT lights. Probably worse.

Authentic Euros (not Asian imitations) are the way to go. The look is dull, but classy.

Agreed. One of the features that I do'nt like in the newer Benzes are their Asian-looking headlight assemblies.

Quality is fine and no problems with fitament, they even come with the vacume adjusters built into them. Plastic lenses though. Can't comment about the light quality, as I never used them without the projectors.

If you want to retrofit projectors, these are the way to go, if you just want to upgrade your headlights and stay with halogens, then get the Euros, the only real sell point for these headlights are the clear lenses (needed for HID projector retro)

so these black ones would be a no go too huh... shoddy construction? I like the black look of these though =/

but DAMN 2phast your retro fit is so insanely cool... like INSANELY cool. Damn it =(

I have to skill with my hands. I would have to pay someone $$$ to do that.

Damn those lights are sexy.

my plan is exacly that, to retro projectors in. right now I am leaning more towards the units in the second url. I think the dual round lights would lend themselves better to projectors. I'd never buy any of these and use them as directed. i'm sure the halogen beam pattern is junk. I did run euro lights with high watt halogens and it was nice (CLICKY). but its not HID nice.

My only question is. I have a 95 E320 wagon. green. I dont know which finish (black, chrome, or that titanium color) would fit best. I'm going to try to photoshop them on (my lack of skillz is laughable) to kinda get a feel.

any ideas? opinions?

Keep an eye on ebay, there are new w124 headlights out now that actually have a projector lense in them. These would be a much easier retro, as you would just need to replace the halogen projector with a hid projector, much less work than doing the same retro in a regular set of headlights.

This type of project is waaaay to labor intensive for me to do for someone else, wish I could though.
