There are crazy mods for basically every other model Benz EXCEPT the 300's. Why are there no companies that have mods for this model. Superchargers, turbos, strokers, and all that happy stuff goes to the 190. Why the heck the 190? And literally nothing for the 300's.
Also, I wonder why there is such a limited number of companies (yeah like none) when compared to BMW's for example. Even my big 7 series had mods available for it superchargers, cheap chips, etc. The poor 300's have been left out. I am sad.

their are plenty of companys! you just have to do some research. it took me a while to find it but its out there.
you should pick up this book at barnes and nobel called "custom Mercedes" good book for the beginner. especially 124 body info.

Blizzark454, I share your same sentiments! Although I drive a different model - a W126 (280SEL).

Well Adam, I have done my research, but it may not be comprehensive enough, and seeing that you seem to have a commendable history of W126 ownership, where do you think I can start in my search for my 126 mods? Say, superchargers and cams?

The "custom mercedes" book, any details on author and publisher? Is it a magazine or book?

Mervyn

Have you found any performance chips for your 300CE? I have a 1995 E320 Coupe and would like to know what you learned?

Don't give up so fast! Just because the information is not heavily advertised doesn't mean it doesn't exist. A couple of years ago I owned an '84 euro Brabus 300E. Since it was a fully Brabus factory-modified car I contacted Brabus NA to see what level of support they were able to provide. They emailed me an Adobe Acrobat-formatted catalog that was unbelievably complete. However, while the catalog showed the entire line they had sold out on some of the products.

For your info, my full house Brabus engine had compression, cam, headwork, flowed intake and ported cast exhaust manifolds. You could probably scare up a cam somewhere on the internet, porting is available everywhere-just make sure someone knowledgeable is doing the work, and custom pistons are no big deal and you can have your intake and exhaust manifolds Extrude Honed easily.

The bottom line is that the 300 is not where people went for performance. In the MB line that is typically V8 territory. That is why, although the Hammer was based on a 124 chassis, it had a V8 engine. Now there's an idea...

I could use a good place to start as well. I love my recently purchased 1993 300 CE, but would like to have a little more pop (I guess I shouldn't have built all those street rod's when I was young).

And yes I know (from reading all of the good threads on this site) that a 500 E will solve all of my problems. However, I really like the looks of the CE and since I got mine at a good price have some room for upgrades.

When the shop opens in January, you will have the options of HP! The only problem is that it costs more to have HP mods done on Mercedes...

hey guys

probably the best bang for your buck would be changing your camshaft to a performance camshaft. you can get one at bekkers.import and ask for tony downs at ext 16. tell him andy iino sent you. if the price is still too high for you, have your original cam reworked from elgincams.com. also bekkers has a big bore throttle body for your 300e.

my next step would be to replace the rear muffler with a stainless steel eisenmann muffler and a free flow resonator from supersprint. you can get these items from bekkers.

i would then get a modified ignition system from jacobs electronics with a set of their spark plug wires.

if you really want to get radical, get a different differential + 1st gear start with a modified torque converter. have an experienced technician re-adjust your transmission modulator so you can shift into gears quicker and adjust your down shifting points quicker from the adjustment in back of the valve body.

hope this helps,
andy

One Thing I learned, is that all 190E, except the 2.6. Yeah like the m103 in many w124s, the engine is not touchable. You can get a bigger throttle body from Bekkers Import, or higher cams from them. Or also, you can get a bigger rear end, and change the cluster out from the same model to keep the speedo the same. Yeah the BMWs have more mods, its cause they are more performance oriented then the MBs. But with research, we can all see that it pays off.

Lets say I out handle any M3 with performance orineted 225/45/16 tires, and now keep up with them on these BFG 215/50/16 All Season tires, so I know I exceded. Want speed, well were working on that

hey badinfo

i dont believe bekkers advertise the big bore on their website. call them at (800) 624-5410 and talk to tony downs at ext 16. tell him andy iino sent you, and he'll hook you up.

overall, bekkers has a few performance options for mbz. i already bought from them the big bore, eisenmann muffler, s600 grill, and the shrick camshaft.

hope this helps,
andy
