Very nice!!!
Great pictures!
Of course the cars are great but... Notice how organized everything is and look at that floor! Especially in the engine assembly area. You could eat off the floor. That's what Benzmac and I want MB Autowerks to look like.

Mark: Thanks for all those wonderful PIX! It was almost like being there. I'm amazed that they let you take pictures inside the factory. When I was at the Corvette Plant, cameras were banned. They did let my daughter ride in a chassis as it was being built down the assembly line, and another kid got to start up a car for the first time. Looks like a trip I've got to take real soon.

Why were Cameras banned at the Vett plant? Might be a stupid question but, I would think M-B has more secrets.

The AMG factory is in Affalterbach, Germany. It's a very small town near Stuttgart. There is also an AMG facility near Brehmen for C, CLK, and SLK work.
I doubt there are many secrets on the AMG factory floor as this is a shop for hand modifications to the E-class. They do prohibit photos of future products. Cameras are not permitted on the Sindelfingen factory tour where the E-class sedans are actually manufactured. The secrets are in the manufacturing processes, not hand modifications. |

Brian:
I really enjoyed your pictures of the AMG factory; thank you. I have a question, please: who made the white dial-faces for your speedometer cluster? Are they AMG parts? RSVP / Thank you, [Edited by run.exe on 03-27-2001 at 04:31 AM] |
