Best Wheels
I like the Lorinser LM6, 18". I did not want to drop $6500 on the real deal, but the knock offs look just as good.

I have the SL 2-piece wheels, 18x8.5"(ET 25), and 18x10(ET 25). I also run a 15mm spacer on the front to make the wheel/tire exactly flush with the edge of the fender flare.

Obviously totally subjective, but I really like the SL 2-piece, the multi piece Brabus Mono III and the current CLS 55 AMG rims.

My favourite are the E60 AMG Wheels with center piece in 199 blue black.
very rare and original era style. but for your car . you need something 18'' and modern style to go with the remus system and victor steering wheel |

Wheel sizes
Not to get off track here, but I understand the CLK's have different size wheels on the front from the ones on the back. Is this common with MB's or is it just the CLK?
I'm also curious about going to the wider, low-profile tires from the standard equipment sizes. On a 500 or 560SEC for instance. Is it possible to switch to the wider tires without making modifications other that new rims?

Come on now ... wheels are like shoes - you decide what you like. We can't make that decision for you.
FWIW, many 500E/E500 owners have installed the 17" x 8.25" EVO II wheel that was outfitted to the car as a 1994 E500 Limited. For a stock look, some have installed 18" 8-hole wheels (stock is 16" 8-hole). Also, for pictures of many different wheels on this chassis, go to 500Ecstasy.com - Captruff has many pictures of his car with about 10 or more different MB OE wheels. Don't worry about what others think ... you decide. |

Depends on what look you want. I've got the AutoCouture Supreme BR's in 19's & I love them. But I don't think they make them anymore.
here's a few pics. Albert S. aka. Extreme E500

Those wheels are sick Albert! I am surprised that you have not color matched them to your car, at least partially.
