I know this sounds like a rediculous idea, but I'd like to install a larger, more agressive exhaust tip, on my 1984 300D Turbodiesel!!!! I have seen tips at pep boys that you just clamp on, and look great. But the problem is that my exhaust tip is slanted down, which makes installing a tip, or even a dual tip that leads of of the one exhaust virtually impossible. But there has to be a way.... if we can put a man on the moon, we can most certrainly find a way to put agressive looking exhaust tips on my Turbodiesel!!!
well.. maybe not. Does anybody know how I can go about this, or have any ideas?????

My car may not be a 300SEL 6.3, or a C43, but that doesnt mean it cant have a little attitude too!

You just touched on the achilles heel of the mercedes exhaust. That damn curve! I know BMW X5 owners are pissed off about the tips of that SUV too. One of our NY members had his OE tips cut off and then had chrome tips welded on his W124. If I had to do this I would have them cut of just at the point where the down curve starts. It shouldn't be too expensive.

Precision Auto Designs (now Performance) has "AMG style exhaust tips" in their latest catalog (pg 22).

They are also on the inet: http://www.precisionauto.com/
You can also call them at 800.222.7253 for info.

The tips slip over the curved downpipe sections and are spot welded. Intended for "S" class cars but may fit!

Nate,

I used to own a 190D and I changed that single simple muffler pipe into the double piped 190E 2,3-16 look. I welded a one-to-two-pipes piece of a 300D front pipe to the rear of my OEM 190D muffler and welded two tips of a 190E 2,3-16 muffler to that 300D front pipe part.
It looked good, it sounded terrible...It appeared that mercedes thought well about the downwards bended multi curved end pipes!

Currently I am driving a C250D(iesel) with a Sebring muffler and DTM end pipes. The end pipes are bended upwards and tend to soot the rear of the car until it gets very black...

greetingz,

yal,

The picture was taken after a full-speed trip to the south of France (1300km-->800 miles trip at 190-200km/h-->118-125mph) in the second week of the muffler being installed.
The trip probably burnt out the complete isolation material in the muffler (since the car sound got a little louder after this trip).
I only wash my car a couple of times per year (and it is hard to clean the car completely). After I added the AMG rear wing/spoiler, the muffler is not longer able to soot the rear of the car into something black anymore.
The only problem I have left is a rear that gets messed up by the rear wing/spoiler picking up every single piece of dirt that is on the road...

It saves me some speeding-taken-pictures-contribution-money...

That is all that gets reflected by flashlight...

greetingz,
