The euro 16V comes with a 3.07 LSD which would exactly match your '86 300E. Having owned an '86 300E 5-speed, I think a 3.27:1 LSD would wake it up nicely without hurting freeway mileage too much.

If you end up with the euro 16V LSD you may also want to consider a 16V Getrag close-ratio tranny with 1:1 5th gear. This would really make the car more fun to drive.

I have always wondered how much HP and torque that rare 5 speed 124 tranny can handle stock... the 4 speed auto can take upward of 300HP?
