It's not cheap though. Like $1200. Plus installation which is about 4 hours. It's up to you but I'd look into more HP or just a plain old 3.27 non LSD.

There's no cheap or easy LSD solution for the W124. Yes it can be done, but expect the cost to be between $1k-$2k. Someone on this forum who's an MB tech can convert your diff into an LSD for about $1200, that was mentioned in a different post a year or two ago.
A possible option is to use the 2.87 diff from a 1995 E300 diesel with ASD, which has LSD internals in addition to the hydraulic locking setup. You'd need to swap the rear cover, and either the axle flanges, or use the axles from the E300 also. Otherwise, it should bolt up. Potomac German has a few available for $300. One catch... the LSD internals are usually toast after 100kmi, so it would probably need to be rebuilt with new friction discs. Figure another $200-$300 in parts if you do the work yourself, several hundred more if you pay a shop to do the work. BTW - the 1986 300E has a 3.07 axle ratio. The 190E-16 has a 3.27 LSD, but would need the axle flanges and rear cover swapped, along with new friction di$k$. IN Europe a LSD was an option..if fact the 16V ring gear carrier is a 124 part number. The 16V carrier will fit in the W124 housing as it is idenical to the 16V housing.

Yes, but it's mostly a bolt-in only if you retain the 3.27 gearing. I'm pretty sure you couldn't use the 16v carrier with 2.65-3.07 gearsets, at least not without machining or modifications to get the backlash set correctly. This is for the "small" diff used on models with less than 200hp, btw... Neil V put a 16V LSD diff into his W124 wagon, behind a C36 AMG motor, and the diff blew up shortly thereafter. The 'medium' size diffs are used behind the M104 and M119 engines in the W124, but the 16V LSD carrier won't fit in those - wrong ring gear diameter.

Yes that is a 185MM ring & pinion..will take about 250HP & about the same amount of torque...yes installing that carrier might require a ring gear spacer.
The best way to go is... installing the complete 16V differential with the 300E stub axle carriers & input flange. MB used that same size differential for 30+ years...very tough! I raced a 3.92/1 ring & pinion from a 1968 220D in my race car(16V) for 75-100 races & still looked good!

Yup... if you don't mind the 3.27 ratio, that's the easy way to go - get a 190E-16 LSD, swap the flanges & rear cover so it will bolt into a W124, and rebuild the guts with fresh friction discs. If I could figure out how to easily retrofit a 5-speed auto tranny, I'd do that in a hearbeat, lol! At the moment I'm more interested in building a 2.65 LSD for my diesel, with a "small" 185mm ring gear.

Lucky you! I think there was only like 300 of those imported to the US. I wish I had a manual to toy with.

Does't the stock 5-speed have a 1.00:1 fifth gear, though? No overdrive? The 722.5 auto tranny has a 1.00 fourth gear and a 0.75 (overdrive) fifth.

Here's a link to more info on a limited-slip unit from Japan... you're not gonna like the cost, though. Figure $2k plus another $1k labor to install it properly:
