self built turbo kit sound ok ?
here is the plan so far and i need some info if it sounds like it will work or not before i start droping money into it . ok first off i got a good used turbo w/waste gate , hardwhere and all the plumbing off an 80's model 260 volvo 4 cyl. planing on geting a t-fitting to screw into the oil presure switch and hook up the turbo oil supply to one side and the presure switch on the other and screw it to the existing hole for the oil switch.
already fabed up an adapter to bolt the turbo and hook it up to the exahst pipe . planing on buying more pipe to plumb the intake tubes up to the engine and installing colder spark plugs . still need help as far as geting more fuel to the engine i.e biger injectors from a 6 or 8 cyl benz maby? planing on not going over 5 or 6 psi max just to be safe for the stock crank , rods , pistons etc. the turbo is very small but in great shape and will easily fit with some mods to the car . so any advise on getin this turbo workin on my 190e 2.3 8 valve would be great . thanks all . sincerly, Justin aka: mbluvrr

Hmmmmmmm, stay under 5 psi and the stock stuff should work okay...although a spark retard would be a good idea.

http://www.034motorsport.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=71 This system is really good, I used to have one. This is a very inexpensive way to add boost enrichment. Also MSD has a device you add to your ignition primary circuit to retard timing under boost pressure. This is a must have.... If you use both of these devices in your upgrade, you can most likely push 7-10 psi given your engine is in good condition. Consider using an intercooler above 7 psi as well.

I suggest using the Saab 2.3 Turbo red top injectors.
I recently upgraded to Volvo T5 injectors on my supercharged E280. However you will need even higher flowing injectors on a 4 cylinder and the Saab one's are readily available from breakers yards and flow plenty. Bigger injectors made the biggest power difference on my supercharger project. However warm starting is a problem and you will need an adjustable fuelling computer to adjust it all. I use the Apexi S-afc controller. |

You shouldn't have any trouble getting enough fuel out of a CISE system for 5-7 lbs. You can staticly make it richer by adjusting the EHA..or, ideally set up a system w/ a MAP sensor that inceases the milivolts to the EHA as pressure builds.
You can also invoke different ignition maps via your R16 resistor. US Factory stock is 3 degree BTDC up to 2500 RPM...@ least that's what I think it is after a Really long day:-/ Jonathan

self made Turbo kit update !
thanks for all the info you guys have provided for me . i am planning on retarding the timing a bit and seeing what i can do to get the fuel system a little ritcher when i finaly do install the turbo and ill see how it goes . as for a fuel system controller or ecu controller .... that might have to wait as funds are getin low on this project since ive found out that i have to come up with a good 84-87 flywheel , fast ! i am thinking of just going a hair size bigger on the injectors and changing the fuel filter to a high flow unit , that combined with the retarded timing , the colder plugs and switching to premeum fuel with octain boster "should" be ok ... hey the best way to learn is to just do it ! lol well i will keep you all posted on the project and i will post up some pics as soon as its done . thanks again for all the advise .

the stock compression on 190E 2.3?
is the stock compression ratio ok for a turbo on an 88' 190E 2.3 8 valve ? if its 9.1 or higher then i can always use shorter threaded plugs to make the compression more turbo friendly right? since ill be keeping it under 5psi boost maby less i am not sure if the compression would be ok or not ? i am planing on using the innercooler from the volvo also .
