Has anyone with a 500E found the correct Euro Lights?
I shattered a headlamp on the highway this weekend, so I guess it is time to upgrade. I am curious, do the lights that are sold by Bekkers have the 500E driving light reflector/lens or is is it the 300E/400E fog light reflector and lens? Is there a big $$ differential? I have looked at adsit.com, performance products, bekkers... Any other suggestions? Does anyone have a Euro part number for the 500E light assy? Euro lights for 500E
Bryan:
I ordered both my European front headlamps and rear tail lens assemblies from BHMA; Bekkers has the same (OEM) Hella parts. Although I do not have the European headlamp part numbers, I can say that a pair will run you roughly $500. The rear tail lens assembly (all red, "blackout," and perhaps all clear are available) data follows: left (HELLA) rear tail-lens (red) right (HELLA) rear tail-lens (red) BHMA part # RTLR-124 price: $315/pair (as of MAR 99) The last phone # I have listed for BHMA is: (800) 367-2462. Scott,
Thanks for the info. BTW, Love your car! Very Sweet! I am thinking about the hood upgrade. I would like to have it vented as well to (hopefully) reduce engine bay temps. Did you mod the stereo? My becker CD died, it is time, I just love the simplicity of the becker paddles. I have been keeping my eyes open for a head unit that will look good. I don't need 250 DSP options and all the other bells and whistles.... Bryan Harter |
Scott,
Was the Hella part correct for the 500E? Did it have the driving light reflector/lens? I recall BHMA had a website, but I think it is down.... Thanks |
part #s for European headlamps
PLEASE NOTE: these headlamps are for use with the 1994 or 1995 E500 hood - * NOT * the 500E hood!

excellent
Good deal, Bryan.
I am happy to have been of assistance; thank you, too, for your compliments. Please let me know how everything turns out with your "facelift" (headlamps + new hood/grill assembly) project. Below, please find some hood/grill assembly data, straight from my Mercedes-Benz dealer: 1994/95 E500 hood (primed, unpainted) = # 124-880-0857 = $551.05 - less a 15% discount = $468.39 1994/95 E500 grill assembly (primed, unpainted) = # 124-880-0983 = $285.20 - less a 15% discount = $242.25 I bought the above items, in April of 1999, at Autobahn Motors (Belmont, CA): (650) 637-2333. Ask to speak to "Larry Siefert" in the Parts Department; you may mention my name, if you like. I don't believe Autobahn (actually, it is "Sonic Automotive," now) offers discounts, anymore (a glaring and disappointing decision/mistake of the new management); however, Larry will make happen whatever you need to in a very timely manner. I hope this helps, [Edited by run.exe on 04-17-2001 at 02:04 AM] |
