I was all exited until they popped the hood to revel a supra engine. Cool drifting shots on the second half of the video though.

Yeah a supra... that isn't exactly keeping it classy

The drift shots are pretty fantastic though.

As a racer Ive learned to respect the comp.Personally I do not like or support japanese cars. However I do realize you can get 1000 horsepower out of these puppies without going in the engine.I will hesitate running this guy.

its a good engine but not in a w124 500e (or E500 from the looks of it). I wouldn't have a problem w/ turbo's on the m119, but the whole draw of the 500e500 is the engine (well, a few other things too). They should have done this to a 400e or something if they are really set on the w124 chassis. Its like dropping an e36 M3 s52 into an e30 M3....great engine, but don't do it to an original.

Question, what does the 500e do better than the supra engine? Are you refering to fuel ,horsepower quality build or torque?

I'm not saying that the m119 is a better engine than the Supra's, but the spirit of the 500e is that it is a V8 powered sport sedan.....if I wanted a Supra I would buy a Supra which is an all-out sports car. The only sort of swap that I can get into w/ a 500e is a larger engine.....maybe a V12 a la Brabus for example. Its like putting a JDM motor into a Ford Mustang......but then again, I don't think that I will ever understand Japanese culture (especially its automotive culture)

I took a closer look at the video and realized the car wasn't a 500E to begin with. It has zebrano wood and regular non-bolstered (fabric) seats.

Also, MB never built any RHD versions of the 124.036.

Then how would they have switched the wheel and all other components over to the right side?

AMG did though. A member of Mercedesshop who lives in England(Vladamir) has an AMG W124 RHD Hammer, he is finishing just now, it was an original Hammer, barn stored for 7 years but now being rebuilt.. Search Mercedesshop for "Rare AMG W124 or Vladamir" to see pictures of the car.

I don't know whether there are any rhd E500 cars though! I noticed the car appears to have blinkers mounted on the fenders, and these were required by law on all UK (rhd) cars, so possibly this car was first sold in Britain with rhd.

That's a real nice 124, but the window tint is awfully dark, and the drifting scenes show the driver really knows what he's doing. He drives safely and dresses the part, and really seems to be a professional. That's one really cool 124.

Exactly my point... I don't think this car started life as a 500E. I bet the VIN is not 124.036. Austin's Hammer was either a 124.026 or 124.030 VIN... anything AMG does is usually a full custom job.
