I know nothing about an M-120 it was 2 years after my time at MB. All I know is they sound cool especially with open exhaust. I currently consider getting the engine in the hole to be the easy part. Getting it to run right with all those computers that talk to each other like a gang of high school girls will be the real challange.

Incidently I got the scale on e-bay $200. See the link

Here's some info on the GM LSx engines that I've found.

“LS1 Engine Kit Installation Guide”, GM PN 88959384. “The LS1 engine assembly weighs approximately 390 pounds.”

"A fully dressed 2000 LS1 5.7 liter Corvette engine ready to install with the engine computer and wire harness, complete exhaust system, engine mounting brackets, AC compressor, alternator, custom water pump adapter, transmission adapter plate and flywheel weighed 434 lbs." I'm expecting that my '02 LS6 is essentially the same weight.

I can't find my info on the transmission weights. I have a 722 Benz tranny off my '87 560SEC and a new 4L60E transmission sitting in my garage but nothing better than a bathroom scale with which to weigh them. I'll do that later today.

I've finally found a little time to work on my FrankenBenz and hope to be finalizing the prototype motor mounts by the end of today. Then it's on to the tranny mounts, then the steering column work.

Well its been a long time and I finally unbolted my M117 Engine from the 722.4 Transmission. The 722.4 Transmission weighs in at 146.5Lb with converter less fluid and dip stick. Therefore I can update all my weights

M120 engine with accessories, no air cleaners and as shown in previous pictures = 666.7 Lb
M117 Engine with accessories and air cleaner as shown in previous picture less transmission = 514.9Lb
722.6 Trans with dipstick and converter less fluid = 169Lb.
722.4 Trans with converter, without dipstick less fluid = 146.5 Lb.

Does anyone need a good transmission or M117 engine.

M113 Engine Weight

Just pulled the M113 from a 2001 SL500 and weight it. This is definitely a lightweight engine. 585Lb with all accessories and 722.6 Trans. 413Lb without transmission.

The engine actually weighed in a 404 Lb with the readout lifted off the engine. The starter weighs an additional 8Lb 4 oz, bringing the total engine weight to 413Lb without air cleaner.

This is about the lightest 5L engine I know of.
