The pipe on my stock muffler doesn't appear to be long for this world. How much louder is the Eisenmann from stock? I want to add a bit of growl, but not too much.

I just got my Eisenmann installed a few days ago and the sound is great. I had it installed on a C220, which is a four cylinder so I am sure it will be a little louder on you six cylinder. Anyway, I left the resonater on between the catalytic converter flange and the Eisenmann pipe so it would not be too loud. They made the connection pipe short enough so you can do this. Sounds great, adds a rumble but does not sound like Honda with the stickers all over them with the eight inch tip exhausts. I am very happy with mine.

Does it add any HP??

I'm sure it adds 2 or 3 horses, not much. For an exhaust to do much, you would need to get an intake, headers, remove the catalytic converter and the resonater before the silencer. This can be done w/ a W202, supersprint makes a piece to replace the catalytic converter, as well as headers.

Thanks. What I was primarily concerned with was noise. I didn't want much extra. I was also concerned about having to modify the rear skirt, as the Eisenmann tips appear to be quite large. Any experience with this?

For my 1994 C220 (W202) I had to modify the rear skirt. I have the cheap ugly black unpainted one so I opened up the exhaust cut-out myself with a dremel tool and a sander bit for it. It looks great, like it came from the factory opened furhter. If your is painted, you may consider a body shop or when you order it, ask them to weld tips a little smaller than the twin 3" tips so that you don't need to modify. I know Bekkers sells them and you can request a different size tip. I'm not sure what type you have but I saw pictures of someone installing one on his SLK 230K with no rear skirt mods. Good luck.

Any idea if a 2000 c230 would need the rear apron modified if I went w/ the Eisenmann exhaust?

Some manufacturers (like Sebring) deliver height adjustable mufflers to prevent cutting the rear bumper for fitting the endpipes. I don't know about Eisenmann, but it can be taken into consideration by those who do not want to cut the bumper.
