Hey bryant I have a similiar clukcing noise in my rear.
I thought it was my spare tire thats what it sounds like.
But the noise it pretty bad feels like something is going to fall apart back there. Heres my deal,. The car rides very smooth you had a firm ride your accumalotrs were bad mines are ok. I dont have that firm ride. But when going over bumps it clunks like hell. Did you have a problem with your rear shocks. Im ready to replace my shocks,but there soo costly. I was thinking of elimianting the hydroneumatic suspension but then thats not a 500E. Tell me if you ran into anything like this with your shocks.
If you did replace them, any good discounts online.

The OEM Sachs struts should run you 500 or less for a pair, double that if you buy them from MB.
Sounds like one may have failed....
