Very nice!

How's everything holding up on it?
Thanks!
Adam

So, How fast is it anyways? I haven't been educated very much on the "Hammer" cars, but would like to be. Looks like a mean machine, and seems to be a desirable car to have..What makes them special, aside from the obvious V-8 under the hood? Which V-8 is that anyways? The 5.6 or 5.0?

Oh, It's fast and mean alright! The Hammer is basically a 300E customized by AMG. They added an M117 engine bored to 6 liters with their own custom twin cam 32 valve heads; performance suspension, aerodynammic body kit with wheels and custom interior with awesome Recaro seats front and rear. The one I looked had stitched leather everything! Even the dash and headliner were leather! All this could be had in the mid 80's for only $160K

Anyway, It's a really sweet car and a piece of history.
Check out this thread for more info. 1987 Amg Hammer.....

One more thing,

The only negitive about owning it is parts for a head rebuild are scarce and the rear suspension bushings and flex joints need to be replaced like every 20K if you drive it like it was ment to be used.

The 500E was built due to the popularity of the Hammer. It was beefed up to handle the power but is still not as fast and cool looking as the Hammer. My opinion. Don't get me wrong though, I LOVE my 500E.

WOW, That's a pretty heavy thread. I'll keep that info in my 'puter. So they never made the "Hammer" in a 124 Coupe? Too, bad. I'd like to build one of my own. I was never very fond of four door anything..with the exception of Station wagons, big SUV's and Big pick-up trucks.

I want a drivetrain like that for one of my 123 Coupes..That would be cool. 6.0 Litre, Tranny, and Rear End. Should all drop right into the car..So who's got a 6.0, for sale for me?

Sure they did! That's exactly what I'm building for my Turbo M103 Project. I'm not sure if the coupe version was officially known as the "Hammer". This title may just pertain to the 4 door version.

I'll post some pictures tomarrow of the AMG coupe. I have tons of them. I'm a big W124 AMG nut. I have like every magazine artile ever published. I even bought an original 1987 AMG catalog on ebay for $80.

Why don't you drop an M119 in that 123. That would be a cool project. Finding a 6.0 32V M117 would be next to impossible and not worth the trouble/money/time.

Cool, Thanks. Just p.m. me, or email them to me when you get the chance. I'm an AMG fanatic also, and have been talking a lot with....oh geez I can't remember the guy's name again, in California..Richmond, Mercedes. About all sorts of stuff for my AMG 123 Coupe project..and a few other items for my Euro 560 SEC AMG also. I just sold, my 89 300ce for a $14.000.00 to a guy in Ohio. the car has 31,000 original miles on it, and is absolutely perfect. That would have been a nice Coupe, to start a build with. I should have, if I'd known. You know what they say "Hind sight is always 20/20..
