Hey,

I was planning on purchasing the bored out throttle body for my 89 300E and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it? I was also wondering if anyone could give me some instructions on how to install it, or is it worth the ridiculous price a dealer would charge? Any advice is appreciated.

thanks,
Drew

I don't know this from personal experience, but I've heard that big bore throttle bodies don't give that much of an increase in HP if that's all you're doing. If you want the big bang, you need to get into exhaust, air intake and ignition upgrades. Eventually this all starts to add up$$$$!

Give this all some thought before you spend the $500 parts/labor for the throttle body upgrade. It might not be worth the expense.

IMHO

Have installed several of these from Bekkers, not really any improvement except for one car that had different exhaust system including headers & hi-perf camshaft already installed.
In fact there was a bit of hesitation until the fuel pressure was raised by installing a fuel pressure regulator from a 16V on 2 of the cars.

Thanks for the replies

I already have a new exhaust system on the car (free flow cat, axed the resonator, and put a freeflow muffler on it). As for the air intake, I here the throttle body is the only thing you can do. I was looking at the throttle body the other day (took the airbox out) and I noticed there are is something sitting on top of the throttle body which seems like it could be somewhat difficult to take out. THanks a lot for the replies.

hey drew

tony downs at bekkers import has this big bore that you want . the tel # is (800) 624-5410 ext 16. tell him andy iino sent you.

if you do buy this unit it comes with instruction to install this unit. it's definetely easy if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. if you do buy it and have trouble putting it in, i'll help you put it in. i've already done it.

as far as in the units on top: it's the air flow sensor and fuel distributor.

andy
