Took my baby out for a nice run on a sunny morning, deserted country highway, hit the throttle and the car just zoomed up to 220ish Km/h (around 130 mph) and suddenly slowed down and the power kinda cut out.

I'm guessing this is factory speed limit? Grrr...

Nope...the limiter is actually set @ 250kmh (155mph) from factory.

Hmm...I keep getting conflicting info. I've read 155 and 130...could it vary by country?

I thought the sport was limited to 130 too. Only AMG & V12 cars carry the 155 limiter in North America.

That pesky limiter is an odd thing.... The V12 cars are not limited to 155 though... The SL600 has been past the magical 160, and the GPS indicated a smooth 159.....

it's automatic.

My E-class manual says 130 for everything except the E55.
Stock tires didn't have the 155 mph speed rating, so they limited the car to 130.
My E300's been to 125, didn't quite make it to 130...but ehh, it's a diesel.

Just waving the flag for the W124036 500E500 cars...speed limiter kicks in at 155mph (157mph actual). Without the limiter, they are drag limited to 175mph according to MB testing.

My E430 sport was limited to 130 as was my twin-turbo CL600 until Renntech moved the limiter from 130 mph to 187. I don't know if the older CL's are limited or not but the new ones are.

my bad, I had the older MB-s in my mind...
EDIT: Sounds like I was right after all..at least there is no 130mph limiter in european MBīs...we have tested 155mph with many of them. us cars maybe different...

It's speed-limited per the kind of tires that were installed when first sold.

If it was first sold with H-rated tires, think 130mph.

My C320 got up to 142 and probable could get more, but my E350 was limited to
130 mph. That sucks
