If you have any car that uses the same bulb for both high and low beams, converting to most HID systems, means you *LOSE* your hi-beams.
I like having a backup should my lights fail, and when (not if) those HID eletronics fail I would hate to be without headlamps. I don't have driving lights, and my fogs are set very low. I ran across this while researching a Philips-based HID conversion for my Euro headlamps on a W124. Note- I said Philips-based. Philips does NOT engineer these kits. Distributors merely put together the pieces, and change the sockets to H4, 9005, 9006, etc. Hope it helps, :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG |
Have you considered a switch to 500E headlights? At least the auxiliary high beams are there for you.
I don't know if this is a viable conversion for you; it was written up in The Star a few months back. Without even considering the HID part, it was a rather expensive conversion as I recall. |
