LS-190 **400HP "16 valve" engine build with pics**
removed steering box and linkage
cut out crossmember and cut holes in trans tunnel mounted steering rack on new cross member (w210 rack) modified lower control arms to make clearance for tie rods. used 3/8' thick steel bent into "u" shape dropped motor in....motor is a "16 valve"...LS1 GM V8, alum block and heads, C6 exhaust manifolds, GTO motor mounts/brackets and front sump pan patched up the trans tunnel. cut rear lower control arm pivots and patch them up(for extra exhaust clearance) added crossmember to framerail supports made a pcm(powertrain control module) mount made a fusebox mount....powers all the engine/transmission stuff more to come... These are of the steering shaft I made from ML parts
The last one shows the steering shaft assembled. The upper ML u-joint attaches to the bottom of the 190 steering column, where the collapsible section used to connect. If I loosen the set screws I can slide the splined section enough to remove the shaft from the steering rack. Also should be enough play to collapse if I smash the car into something. hope that never happens. |
