I was thumbing through the "Truechoice" race catalog today and saw something that interests me very much.
I'll probably call them next week & ask them about it, but before I get a sales pitch from them, I will see if anyo of you here know. Will the racing coil overs for a 90's BMW M3 fit a 201 chassis Benz? Looking at the BMW race shock in the catalog, it looks nearly identical to the unit for a 190. I'm not worried about the top of the unit, because I already have camber plates, and can easily reinforce the area. The only difference I saw, was that the BMW housing has a little bracket on it to hold the brake hose & sensor wire in place. This could be easily removed if it is in the way. My biggest concerns are the length of the shock and possible interference with the spring & the tire (if the spring sits too low on the shock housing) Well, Am I the first to see this & make the connection? Anyone else looked into it? I'm planning on doing some "freshening up" on my racecar this winter, and need to figure out if it will be worth it to take my suspension to the "next level" & do some tweaking on my 16v engine,,,,,,,,,or fianly just give up & get a 911 to race so I can buy parts off the shelf! The Porsche guys have it soooooo easy, all they need is a catalog & a visa card to get race parts. |
