Here's a video I found on You Tube of an M103 running with no manifold. Absolutely amazing how fast it revs with no back pressure. Looks like it has a hard time running below 1500 RPM though. When the cooler air enters the exhaust port after shutdown it tends to stress the innards !!!

the engine was probably toast anyways.. time to have fun with it anyways

Having fun would have been strapping it to a lawnmower,,, that's just a waste.
