W126 Body Kit AMG

Spent several hours on the web looking into AMG body kits. Let me tell you, I found a complete kit on Ebay yesterday. Really scuffed up too.
Today, it's gone! Another site has just rear bumper and skirts. Not much out there. But then I found Wicked Bodies in New Jersey. So I am inquiring about an out the door delivered to my door price for a complete kit. Their gallery pics are impressive. Especially the black W126 on their home page.

I've seen the body kits mounted up...something about the look has seemed off to me, but perhaps that's just me.

Vintage AMG bits are often snatched up right quick as I'm sure you're learning;-)

IMHO, it pays to find the real thing, restore it and mount it up.

Guess it looks ok, but I favor the original stuff any day over fakes. Just find an original AMG car like I did, for best results.

Hey, I saw Darkone's 126 on their website. The kits look pretty nice to me. I don't see your objection Nick. Maybe if I was to see the real thing parked next to an aftermarket version, I could appreciate the difference.

Yeah, I guess you'd have to be lookingi at the real deal every day, and get pretty used to looking at it in order to tell the difference. I suppose, if you are the only one in town with one with a kit on it, noone would know the difference either...

I got those for my 300SD, but I could only get them to fit on the rear doors. They're stuck open to.

Oh well.

Well, sir, the reason some of us want the kits, is purely economical.
For a few hundred dollars more, we can achieve the look.

Yes, it would be fantastic if we could shell out a chunk of money for a pure AMG, but then I would be stuck with the look on a car that really does'nt run as good as the SEC I own now. Plus I can not afford to do so. I would have to "start over" as it were replacing and fixing. I do not want to do that.

I mean I paid $7000 to make a dream come true. And to date I have put another $9,000 into it. $7800 of that is DIY. I have no regrets. And I am not done. I really do not want to ever be done. The car gives me motivation. It's also therapy for me on the weekends because my job simply consumes me during the week.

Some of us already have a Mercedes SEC, we like the looks of the AMG, and we already have more money tied up in the present car, like myself, than you can possibly get for it.

So if you can afford to pick up a true AMG to start with, I applaud you.
They are beautiful cars. I am not one who can. I will, however, do the best I can with what I have.
