Ok, I got a new CLK430 2 months ago and I want to do a couple things to change it or actually separate it from the others out there. I have already planned to put the Lorinser exaust on, looks like the AMG, but it's not. Supposedly you get 30 more horsepower out of it. I also want to get the chip that takes off the governer on the car, I really dont know much about chips and the computer system in the 430 but I hear there is a certain chip that supposedly ads speed and takes of the limiter to the car, because the other day I was on the highway and the car wouldn't go passed 120mph, I freaked, what a scam, such a fast car with such a low limit, well whatever any feedback from you guys would be great!!!

30hp is a bit of an exageration on that exhaust. Fact is, there isn't too much you can do after the catalytic converter flange to add that kind of hp. If the Lorinser is just the muffler section, you may get an extra hp or two.

As for the ECU, your CLK is high tech, and the engine will need to be re-programmed to take this in. These cars are a little trickier to tune.

120 mph? How many m,iles do you have on the car? is it broken in (ie over 5000 miles)? A CLk430 should hit at least 130 mph. Have you done anything to the car at all? You would have to do extensive mods to achieve the power of a CLK55.

I have 3800 miles on the car. I only hit that speed twice, why I shouldn't be driving that aggresive yet?

A Lorinser Kompressor and the appropriate chip would be a nice addition. Say bye bye to lots of cars and your 120 mph top speed as well...

Drive it as hard as you want. You could try a top end run again in about 1000 more miles you should see a top end increase then. Mercedes motors have a tendency to ba a littlr doggy until you put some miles on them they come a little tight from the factory. If you have the money the supercharger would be a nice addition. Get your self a nice AMG, or other exhaust, that will help some but not drasticly. Myself I could care less about top end. I prefer acceleration, the only problem is Mercedes never seems to give its cars a decent gear ratio like BMW. The best gear ratio I am aware of is the C230 Kompressor which comes with a 3.27 . A nice ratio somewhere around a 3.73 would make a world of difference. You might try keeping your car in fourth, usually there is only about a 500 to 600 rpm difference at speed. I don't know where you were in the RPM range when you were doing your top end run. If you hit the aerodynamic wall as we say , which is when you Rpm no longer climbs and the car no longer accelerates, you've basically run out of horse power and the engine cannot move the car any faster. if you hit red line in fifth well thats as fast as she'll go.

Thanx for your response, I think im gonna get the new exaust real soon, as for the Kompressor, Thats serious work to the car, I got find a good place around the NY area that could do that kind of work, I have one place in Jersey I know about but Im not sure if they do good engine work. They can do really good body work and sound systems but im not sure about engines, oh well, I just got to shop around!!
