I'm in and confirmed. I hope I won't be the only MBZ on the track!

Does anyone know what a good lap time is for this track?

Lap Times

Anything close to a minute is considered fast at Lime Rock in a decent sports car. Wish I could see how close I come but there's always next year. Have a great time, comrades.

I ran a 1:04 when I did my Skip Barber three day course. The new Skip Barber sequential cars with wings run a lap in abot 57 secs.

See you all tomorrow.

Results are in-sorta

Great track time, folks! Beautiful day in the Bershires, variety of cars turned loose on an historic racetrack-what more could you want! Other than the Corvair that barfed oil all over the track early, things went well-3 practice sessions & Lots of laps-about 50 or better.

Although we witnessed a couple of minor shunts by my associates (David 'who needs brakes' Hendy & Tailhappy Vette-guy Gary), I can at least say that I kept all 4 corners within the confines of the track (even through at the end of the long 1st section my OE brakes melted down at one point-seriously spongy pedal that's still not right 3 days later). However, I was indeed the involved party in a couple of lurid slides I somehow retrieved, and had a blast running this track! My best time-1:12.22 on street tires. As to top speed, I was getting to 120 MPH or maybe a little more on the front straight leading to Big Bend. Worst timed lap was a 1:14.16, which included a butt-clenching slide at about 100MPH. Glad I collected it, 'cuz it would have been ugly.

Now, here comes an '87 bone-stock 190E 2.3-16 driven very competently by Paul (friend of Jims500E). Knocks off a 1:15, then a 1:14, then a best 1:13.71. On street tires. Proof positive that horsepower isn't everything; good driving Paul.

And then there was Hendy. 3 timed laps in the 1:09s, his best being 1:09.33. On street tires. Probably had the A/C on. Made it look easy. I hate you David.

Gary got screwed-they messed up his timed laps, and only his 1st registered. But what a car! I got to drive his ZR-1 for an hour, and I'm here to tell you that car hauls! Do NOT challenge one to a drag race!

Good seeing you guys (except Hendy-and Quit that Skip Barber stuff, you're killing us!!!)

Yep, another wonderful day on track. I must admit that I was somewhat nervous when I realized that not all the cars on track were in "shinny side up" condition like mine, Michaels and Davids. Then, there was the rental car guy with a FWD Impala SS that kept his gas pedal to the floor for the entire run. My goal for the day was to have fun and drive it home in the same condition I got there.
For those of you out there that need to brush up your driving skills (like me) these events are excellent. While this event was great fun, I could have gotten more out of it with a full time instructor.
When you're pumped, the ride home can be even more fun that the track event itself. Michael and I swapped cars for a part of that ride. It was kinda strange following my car driven by someone driving it like he stole it. As Michael mashed the gas and snapped his head back, I followed him in the comfort of a luxury sedan listening to Pink Floyd tunes on a stereo system that puts my home unit to shame. The 500E cruises the highway and the track in seamless performance and comfort that make other car owners go, "what the %$@* was that that just blew by!!?? You can't feel the power of this car but WOW is it there...BIG TIME!
My E55 has a completely different feel to it which I think could be described as more Americanized. If I had to use one word to describe the 500E other than Excellent, Amazing, superb, vunderbar or the like, I'd use an old Brooklyn expression-SMOOVE!
Enjoy driving your machines out there and please, try to join us at the track at least one time. You'll be glad you did-even in a rental car!

LRP!!!

A perfect day @ sunny LRP indeed! Well, maybe not so good for the poor sucker that BORROWED a Corvair for the last run of the day and rolled it into the wall. Do'ah! Didn't know those were my times, needless to say I'm pleasantly surprised! Must have been a result of my mission to spank that f'n taigaitin Fiero beoch's arse! I'll take it.

Great to see a good contingency of fellow grocery getters there, always fun to show up them muscle cars! I may hit a few more of the CART events @ Bristol, CT if anyone's interested. It's not a bad set up usually. Next one is 7/22, but I won't make it until at least 8/26. Anyone interested in joining me let me know. Hey, my bro Rog did it last month in his '93 300SE*&@%!! Good for him.

Enough ramblin. Keep in touch Mike, Gary, Dave, etc.
