Hi,
I am undecided as to whether to fit my 95 wagon with sportline front springs and leave back/ fit Eibach pro-kit back springs or to fit the Eibach pro-kit all around. One thing of interest is that the sportline springs are supposed progressive rate. Anyone know if this is true? Looking at pictures of them at this site (featured cars/ sportline kit), I cannot see how they are progressive, unless the wire is of varying thickness. The coil distances appear to be constant. Am I missing something?? Thanks as always farrukh |

John,
Your email did not get through - but thanks for trying! Upon close examination of the photos you took, the sportlines do not appear to be progressive. I have a suspicion that they might be Eibachs. I spoke to the technical folks there. they advised that the pro kit springs have constants which are 20% higher than stock. In Europe, MB makes the E (W210) and C class among others available as an "avantgarde" edition. The suspension elements are about 20% stiffer than stock. If you have them, and you have a mo, could you publish the following numbers for stock and sportline springs: Length Width Wire diameter (is this constant) Distance between consecutive coils Thanks in advance farrukh ps. Ill publish f/r Eibach spring constants for 300E, 300TE, 400E later on. |
