W126 AMG info wanted.

I'm doing a tune up on a W126 500SEc ( 117-963 ) with AMG mods to the engine. The cams are AMG 5.0-1 ,cam ID 08/09. The stock opening specs are 22 degrees after top dead center. What should they be with these cams.

Not too sure how you would change that outside of offset woodruff keys.

Are your lifters hydraulic or mechanical?

Finding an M103 w/ AMG mods is Hard...very hard. A full on 3.2L conversion would be rated @ 245hp.

You won't be finding any AMG parts around...I've been looking for 6 years and have yet to find any M103 bits.

If you want to go fast, get a 560..that's your BEST bang for the buck by FAR.

I have no idea of the cams specs other than what is stamped on the rear.It has mecanical 'lifters' ( pivots ) instead of Hydraulic.
I just need to know the opening specs in degrees of crankshaft rotation...eg ,on these cams intake begins to open at 45 degrees before top dead center.
Regarding off set keys,it has off set keys fitted now but with a new chain I do not think the cam timing is correct.
I'm going to set the valves at 025mm exh. and 010mm intake to get some idea of absolute cam duration, something else i have no idea of .

AMG began .as a company in 1967.If you can speak German you can contact their spares department in Alfalterbach and inquire as to what parts they have in stock. They have bits going back to 1972 on the shelf.
For your 300 i would put a set of gears from a W107( 3.07) in the diff, this will give you great aceleration around town but a lousy fuel economy and top speed.

Long before AMG became part of Daimler empire it was just a few guys working in a converted mill building. The general set up was that you bought your car, then took it to them and selected from a list of modifications what you wanted. This could be anything from a steering wheel to a 4 cam 6.0 liter V8. So there are no two AMG conversions the same.I discount all those "body kit" cars which infest the scene as not being performance cars but poser vehicles. A spoiler and a set of wheels does not an AMG make...
There will be parts for your engine( i've seen R107's with the 300 engine modified by AMG) ,but considering the work involved ,it's easier to just lower the diff ratio. or buy a car with bigger engine.
