Remus exhaust - now again available - special run

If you are interested in putting a Remus muffler on your W126, be aware Remus Sport Exhaust of Austria has agreed, through a co-operating distributor in the USA, to do a special run of 10 Remus W126 mufflers.

These were designed and engineered SPECIFICALLY for the W126, and dyno tested.

They are not cheap, of course, but anyone who wants the best muffler possible, for a W126, may want to jump in.

Only three more commitments are needed, with a paypal payment, and then the factory in Austria will make the run, and the mufflers will be shipped by sea freight container to the United States.

The price is $859 USD plus $70 shipping/handling (the box is 50 pounds).

If 20 paid orders are recieved, the run will be 20, not 10, and the price will go to $768

This is NOT an advertisement for Remus, just a notification that that a group of enthusiasts from another forum convinced the company to do a limited run.

For information from Remus Sport Exhaust and how to go about signing up to be on the list to buy one see:

www.remusexhaustshop.com

They are very forthcoming, co-operative and willing to answer all questions, by phone or email.

This is going to be a one-time-only resurrection of the No Longer Available Remus W126 muffler, with the dual square tips.

For information, and final negotiations and committed parties, as of today, see:

For the history, debate, lengthy and spirited discussion of how the idea for a special run of the W126 Remus muffler came about, see this 17 page discussion:

It was believed that these W126 Remus mufflers would NEVER be available again, but now is the chance to get one. Anyone wanting the best should check this opportunity out.

Note, I personally have no interest or connection to the Remus company or its distributors, but wanted to alert anyone intertested, about this.

you could get a whole new 3" exhaust setup for that price ..

Dee8go 12-06-2007 09:58 AM

Oh, at first I was reading that as the whole exhaust system. Yeah, $965 delivered sounds like a lot for just a muffler.

Jim B. 12-06-2007 11:05 AM

It IS expensive, fellas, but it is NOT "just" some muffler. It is the best one there is, hands down. Even better than the AMG mufflers that were made for those cars. Today, they even make the mufflers for the Brabus tuned cars.

If you read the last link (above) this same exact point was made, debated, and argued and explained.

There are reasons for why it costs high.

Dee8go 12-06-2007 11:26 AM

Not meaning to disparage (sp?) what you said, Jim. Jes' sayin' . . .

powerpig 12-06-2007 11:28 AM

I have a full Remus system on my 300CE and am still getting used to it. I think the Remus would sound pretty cool on a SEC.

Dee8go 12-06-2007 11:52 AM

You should order one of the, Kevin. Then, in a few months I can buy it from you . . .

Dee8go 12-06-2007 11:53 AM

Is the Remus all stainless steel?

AMG used Sebring for their mufflers; Sebring is still in business. I need a new muffler for my SL AMG (mine has a pinhole), and money is never a consideration when buying parts for that SL, but I'm not sure how a $900 Remus muffler could sound that much better than a $400 Sebring.

1) Is it that good?
2) Do you have dimensions on one so I can see if it'll fit the SL?

the linked thread didnt really help much .. after page six i gave up .. all it pretty much was ..remus is the best ...no magnaflow is just fine ..no remus is the best .. no magnaflow is just as good ..

pretty stupid thread .. i guess if you want the remus look and sound than it would be for you ... but id never spend that much money on a muffler .. "what? just a muffler?" ...yes just a muffler ..

comes down to opinion .. me personally .. id rather stick that money into other parts .. then when i have nothing left to waste my money on .. id probably buy one just to say i have a remus muffler .. its the best one ever made for my car

Could be just your sour grapes. I am not saying you just came around to relieve yourself on other people's bonfires, but all those kinds of remarks have been made on the other threads.

Maybe if you are that cost conscious you should be driving a Kia.

Here is a novel idea for you: Die beste oder nicht "The best, or nothing". That is the slogan of the Mercedes Benz car company, and till about 15 years ago, it was the guiding principle behind every Mercedes Benz that was engineered and left the assembly line in Germany.

EVERY W126 was constructed to this standard, and it was one VERY important reason why these cars were purchased new, by their aware and discriminating customers.

Likewise with Remus. They are well experienced as makers of F1 exhausts,
with genuine motorsports experience and R&D behind them, which is worth more than hollow claims and opinions, and anyone should know that exhausts such as Remus that are homolgated by AMG, Brabus and Renntech cost big money.

Remus mufflers are made from expensive processing, with stainless steel inside and out.

They have a VERIFIED hp increase and are dyno tested.

They are application specific and no longer built for the W126.
The factory was persuaded to build them again for this limited run. It may never happen again - which was the reason for this thread, SIMPLY TO NOTIFY people interested.

They have a 3 year and unlimited mileage warranty.

They are installed using factory mounting points.

They have stainless steel tips, highly polished and chromed

They have an infinitely adjustable valve control for adjusting the sound.

From a budget-driven, peckersniff point of view they may not be worth the money, but then, what is the value of a flawless 3 carat diamond, or an original Chippendale highboy?

Quite simply, they are worth the money for people who appreciates and wants the best, and there are customers out there who do.

It was to such people that this thread was directed.

Compare, Just on looks.

Compare how they look:

Magnaflow:

Remus:

Just on the tips alone, the Remus stands far above; Remus will NOT sell its tips separately. There is a reason: it would degrade their reputation.

xtreme barton 12-06-2007 06:35 PM

"pretty stupid thread" was referring to the linked thread of debates .. again it comes down to opinion on what you think your money is worth .. quality, hp gain, sound, etc .. i just gave my opinion is all .. doesnt mean i dont like you cause you would spend 900+ on a muffler .. just means i dont agree with you .. heck ill go as far as to say maybe they are prettier and have a minimal hp advantage over magnaflow or whatever other one you would like to compare it to.. maybe they even sound the best .. and have the best non sold separately tips .. but i wouldnt buy it is all .. the cost doesnt justify what you get compared to others .. its all in the motives for getting a new muffler

iwrock 12-06-2007 06:37 PM

If a W124 Remus were cheaper, I would have one... :)

Plan and simple. They are the best.

Problem is that they are mucho dinero. So for me... I am putting in a Timevalve Y-Pipe.
