What's Your Reaction - 2 E55s For Sale
Had this on OD - didn't get much response.
Never thought about the E55 but they're dropping into my price range. Just saw 2 listed recently. Haven't looked at either. I don't know any of the issues involved with this vehicle. First one: 99 E55 107K miles silver/black asking $14K. 3rd owner Florida car, now local to me in NY (so I can bring to my mechanic). Current owner has owned it for 4 months, put $1200 in + 2 tires, now wants to sell. No service records besides last service. Has plausible reason for selling. There is also an E55 2001 silver/black 84K from a NJ used car dealer (not MB or other new car dealer), asking 18K with minimal records. Too far to bring to my mechanic. Any reactions to either? |
I'm not sure i would buy another new MB for a while. My 97 E420 is showing signs of rust which to me is shocking. I spoke to some people in England where they salt the roads often and they are saying that the W211 is showing signs of rust there. This to me is not acceptable.
I think the next new car will have less electrics and better corrosion properties. Maybe a Nissan 350Z with a 6 speed. You can get a nice low mileage 04 for that kind of money. It's not an MB but I have nine of those already. |
I like the...
...2001 E55. It has lower miles and also the trip-tronic transmission. I think the 210 E55's are great value. They are fast and comfortable (0-60 in the high 4's and 1/4 mile in low-mid 13's) and they look good. Make the effort to see the 2001 and bring it to a stealership there to check it out. Use the lack of records to bring the price down. Good luck:)
