For the M117 and M116 engines yes the Ford injectors do fit perfectly with out been turned down at all. Also if you want to do it on the cheap side and dont have the skill or want to pay for a fuel rail to be built you can turn down the top of the injectors(removing about 15mm of plastic moulding) to make a barb and just use the same fuel rail as stock.
Going for a aftermarket ECU like Megasquirt will lower your fuel consumption if you can keep your foot off the accelerator, i have a 450SLC with MSextra controlling fuel and spark using probably about 12L/100km vrs the original 18L/100km the cars are listed to use. Also the car now puts out 125KW at the wheels with the dyno techs saying its abit lean and could probably get a few more KW out of it if i let them tune it properly...Runs great on just a street tune so its staying that way atm. |

The ones i used were the Ford Mustang racing injectors, the ones with 4 holes, but almost any will fit

The name I've heard for these is "design one" injectors, as opposed to the newer "design three" injectors that are on current production cars, both from Ford and GM (Holden).
The old ones have a fat middle to them, around an inch diameter, with a smaller profile on both ends, around 3/8" or so. The new injectors are the smaller size the full length of their body, possibly slightly smaller in the middle due to having a hexagonal or octagonal section in the middle. They both use the same fittings on front and rear, but have different connectors for the wiring to attach to.
