W116/M110 Turbo
Has anyone, or does anyone know of any info re turbocharging the M110 in the W116 series 280E sedan? I can find some details of the later W124 300CE being turboed but that was a 24 valve one as well.
Any info is greatky appreciated. Chris |

I for one have never seen photo's of a TC'ed M110.. But I think w/ your oil pooling issue you should make sure your engine is in tip top shape before you go thinking about forced induction.

man this engine is not the best for boost, enriching it is a ***** and the domed pistons aren't much of a help either. Then there is the rattling overhead cams and their weak seats and the regular valve adjustment needed. Further more, i bet if u run a compression test u'll find that piston 5 is the weakest, the M110 has an issue it seems with piston 5. But then a again i could be wrong and it might work just fine.
either way best of luck

The us version has flat top pistons so if one has to turbo it might be the place to start.

Speaking of, anyone know of a good place for rebuild parts? Cams/pistons etc for a M110 FI motor? Are those parts houses like Adist Co any good?

I wouldn't order anything from Adsitco, to many people have had problem with them. I'd order new from the dealer if I were you.

Nice photo's!! I wouldn't build the 110 to euro spec...that's +1 in the wrong direction for FI. US spec w/ an 8/8.5-1 CR would be better.
Adsit is horrible.. I'd look into custom pistons...going to be WORLDS cheaper then Genuine bits. I'd look for good used cams..you may consider re-profiling for a serious FI setup...again, they are likely Very expensive new. Jonathan
