Bilsteins on a W210

I am looking for anyone that has installed Bilsteins HDs on a W210.
I would like to tighten the suspension, but I want to maintain the nice ride.
What are the biggest differences that you see(feel)?
Was the ride over expansion strips or tar strips affected?
Did they affect road noise?
What tires are you using?
Did they help stabilize the car during crosswinds?

Thanks Jim

I would like to have this information also. I have lowered the car with Eibach springs and it firms it up a tiny bit, but needs something else. Had Bilstein sports on my "old" E420 with no problems. I am also wondering about bigger sway bars....say from an E55. I wonder what type shocks the E55 is running...AMG? Are they built by Bilstein?

Thumbs up

I have the Bilstein Shocks on my car coupled with H&R Springs. I promise you the ride does not suffer, when on roads that have some undulations (if thats the right word) you'd feel the car has a slight tight bounce to it. Now also take into consideration that I changed my springs but I now do not have to constantly correct my steering on the freeway, the car feels firm and tight. I now drive the car instead of float in it :p .

Tolahouse:

Do you have the Bilstein "sport" or "comfort" shox on your E420?

I have the Bilstein Sport shocks. There is the talk about the sports being setup for cars that have lowered or performance springs, so I went that route.

E55 Bilsteins

Just to update the forum, I have installed the E55 AMG Bilstein shocks on my E430 Sport. I already had the Eibach springs. The difference between the stock shox and the AMG/Bilstein is:

More road feel through the tire/wheels and steering wheel

More seat of the pants feel of the road

A bit firmer ride

A tiny bit less lean in corners

More control on uneven road surfaces

Much better high speed feel

Calipers

Thanks, YAL.........people either love them or hate them. I wanted something different than red that everyone seems to do. Was inspired by the Audi LeMans cars with their silver and yellow paint.
