Should I get 3in exhuast on my 87 300sdl

I’ve been wanting to change out my exhaust system on my 300SDL for some time. I had a rust issue with my muffler so I gave my car a muffler economy and simply cut it off and put a down pipe in its place. But I still find myself wanting more. After searching the forum for two days I haven’t found much on my 300sdl and a 3in full system right off the turbo.
I’m thinking no resonator, muffler, no anything. Just a turbo and some 3 inch pipe. I know there has to be someone out there on the road with this setup. Did you notice any noise increase, I’m not wanting to get noticed by anyone or increase the noise. And I know that my car isn’t the fastest but having a little power increase would be nice.

Let me know what you think, I’m bored and I’m wanting to work on my car.

My 300SD is straight piped all the way back but it is the factory diameter. I just removed all the extras. The turbo wine is slightly audible and I hear the wastegate under hard acceleration. There is a slight drone at around 1800 rpm but it goes away as you increase rpm. Really not much difference other than that. I would like to say the turbo is more responsive as well but I only have my butt-o-meter to test it by.

So today during the lunch break I went out to my first muffler spot in town I found, and was priced $550 3in from turbo ->flex pipe-> res-> muffler. Is that a correct price for what I'm wanting, or is that to high.

For some reason I don't think it's really going to be much loader then what it is now. I have stock exhaust minus the muffler. Should I add on the muffler and resonator, because that adds to the over all price.
