manual swapping m103

hey y'all, I was wondering if anybody swapped the ngs370 (6 speed found in the mercedes slk230 and the Chrysler crossfire) into a 190e with the m103? I'm having trouble find a hard yes or no as to whether they will bolt up. I've read that they will mate nicely and I've read that they won't. I plan on eventually turboing my m103 and making a modest 400hp for autocross and track days so I need a sturdy trans and I need those juicy downshifts. In addition, what all else goes into a manual swap? 3rd pedal, driveshaft, clutch, flywheel, what else?

Thank you in advance, I look forward to hearing about y'all's swaps and thoughts.

shifter, lets not forget the shifter and the pretty wood bezel that goes around it. Can't have an untidy benz. -cth

The bolt patterns on the M103 and the M112 are different, so not a direct bolt-on.
With a bit of perseverance, it may be possible to fabricate an adapter.

Might be easier to put the complete M112 engine with the manual trans in. Pulse the M112 weighs about 1/2 of what the M103 weighs.

I've always wondered about putting in the M112 V6 into a 190. If they could make the M117 fit in the 80s, and a YouTuber (JMSpeedshop) was able to fit an M120, I don't see a reason not to forego the M103 in favor of a nice V6.

However, speaking from experience when trying to Turbocharge a Crossfire a few years back, it was a TOTAL pain in the ass. A supercharger would be a better bet.

You want the 6 speed from a M111 supercharge w203 hatchback car. It is a plug and play with M103

The M111 as a whole is a great motor, and seems to love forced induction. It's another great option for power if you want to save space/weight.

Don't get me wrong, the M103 is by no means a bad motor, but if you're going to through the motions of a trans swap, as well as looking at some form of forced induction, why not look at a newer MB motor?

If you're not afraid of electronics, the M272 out of a W204 C300 would be another great choice, with manuals available straight from the factory. Not sure where you are in the world, but that may be easy to source.

I've determined that the 6 speed from the slk230 with the compressor will bolt up. Has anybody done this? any idea of the total cost of extra components (flywheel, custom driveshaft, etc)? This is my first manual swap so I'm a tad clueless.

it won't be cheap. But the transmission itself is the single most expensive component.

A used flywheel can be had for several hundred dollars. A new one is somewhere less than 1,000US$, I forget exactly how much less.

Drive shaft customization and balancing depends on the area you are in (100US$ if you are lucky, a few hundred if not). Changing the yoke on the transmission would set you back 10US$ if all you need is to replace the retaining nut and you use the original yoke from the transmission already in place AND if the length is right (it probably won't be).

pedals and shifter and the right piece of wood set me back 200$ when I purchased them from a supplier in eastern Europe (that was an Ebay find in 2019).
