3.0 help

ok i have a 85 190e that needs a new motor. I'm leaning towards a straight 6 and it's going mega squirt and turbo. what i would like to know is what the more knowlegeable people on here (Roman) think i would be better off using. single cam or twin cam? 103, 104? what size turbo and so on. i'm looking for around 450-500 hp. hopefully anyways. any help would be great. thank you

What do you want, a drop in turbo kit with 450-500hp or are you building the engine? If you're building, build the 24-Valve, because it can obviously breathe better. If not, the 12-Valve is stronger in stock form, allegedly. Turbo? Well if there's only one, use a GT32 or higher. Or if two turbos, I think anything from a couple GT28 or their derivatives will get you there or you have extreme options like the HKS GT3037 "Pro S", or even something larger. Audi guys use KKK K04's from the RS6, and make that kind of HP from 2.7L engines. But, two k04s from an Audi TT 225 could do it, I'm sure.
For a selection of turbos, atpturbo.com has a pretty decent site, and nice prices.

After I have been working with a few M104 this year I can just say one thing. Mercedes misstake engine.

We compare both M103 and M104 several times with both turbo and non turbo but both with a megasquirt.

With a same good tuning map M104 drink more gas then M103. Why???
M104 goes warmer then M103. Warm summer day in trafic M104 can not stay cool as good as M103.
Bad water chanels in M104 head, very sensitive for a heat.

Even mercedes benz workshop in sweden notise a lot of broken head gaskets and a lot of head problems of M104

I can understand why the M104 was producing only a few years.

M104 is pretty good engine if it is in very very very good condition.

But M103 is much better engine on every way, turbo a non turbo.

But a new M104 e280/e320 is veeeeeeeeeery nice engine.
Not so strong like M103 but very nice, strongest inline 6 and most economical inline 6. Best non turbo inline 6 ever.

Good turbo everyday drive setup

M103 stock as hell
60mm inducer turbocharger
megasquirt extra
twin entry manifold with twin wg pipes to the wg valv
(makes a lot!!!) Fast, soft spooling curve

thank you guys. I think I'm going with a m103. I'm going to rebuild it while it's out. I may bore it a little over but I don't know yet. I have been thinking single turbo but may go twin. I'll figure that out when I'm a little closer to putting it in. Roman do you have any pictures of a twin entry manifold with twin wg pipes to the wg valv? I understand the concept i'm just trying to picture how I would set it up. Thanks

As you can see it is 2 pipes from each side of collector goes to 1 wastegate to avoid mix the exhaust pulses
