Lowering springs for 560SEC?

I did a quick search this morning for lowering springs for my SEC and every site that came up had them for other cars, but not a 560 SEC. Any recommendations of a good source for these?

I don't believe the sponsors here sell stuff like this. If so, my apologies to you.

H&R is probably your best bet. There are other manufactures that make springs for these cars but not sure their availability.

Thanks, Pesho. It didn't even occur to me to look on Tirerack. Shame on me!

What else would be required for lowering my car? Just the springs or does it require a change in the shocks/struts? Those kits say they lower front and back both 1.4", but the rear seems pretty low now. It's the front that needs to go down.

What about spacers? Are they a good idea? I have no experience with them.

If you're doing this it wont hurt to get all new shocks but thats up to you. I did this about 2yrs ago but was too cheap to change the shocks as they looked to be in OK shape. I wouldn't say its required to change shocks from a lowering point of view in other words I don't think anyone makes special shocks for these lowered cars, only heavy duty type stuff.
Btw if your car has the self leveling system the rear shocks and springs are different. With the self leveling system supposedly you can adjust rear height, I havnt played with this though.
As for the spacers (rubber shims that sit on top of spring) they come in different thickness, you can put thicker in the rear and thin in the front. I dont know why these cars over time tend to be high in the front and low in the rear.
Over I'm happy with the stance of the car and relative handling though its still a BOAT.

I was actually talking about spacers for the wheels to widen the stance. I noticed they came up in relation to lowering spring kits on several sites. I guess the idea is to lower the center of gravity, widen the wheels slightly, and stiffen the suspension some for better, tighter handling.

Ohh I hear you, I'm just not too much of a fan trying to make these cars handle like a track car.
But rather than spacers I'd think its better to start with the right wheel and offset first and I've heard spacers put too much stress on the suspension, I'm also a little scared of having another piece of metal between me and the road that can go wrong.
Anyway good luck in your endeavor for a better handling 126. My expertise on this topic has reached its limit.

I am with Pesho, if you want wider stance, wider wheels, and different offsets are the way to do it.

Dee, I am just not a fan of spacers, just adds to the list of things that can go wrong...

My friend was going to run spacers on his BMW to widen the stance, but changes his mind after talking to him.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking. No need to add one more thing into the mix that can fail and for which the engineers never planned. I'll stick to springs, wheels, and shocks, I guess.

Somebody brought these to my attention today.

http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/pts/858779460.html

I don't know this name. Is anyone here familiar with these? Are they good quality? What might a fair price be for them?

JAMEX springs

"The springs are made by JAMEX they lower the car 2in and will work with the leveling system. You simply shorten the adjustment Rod to achieve the desired height. "

Most kits I've seen claim they drop the car 1"-1 1/2." I've never heard of JAMEX, so I have no idea if it's a good quality product or not.

I think I'll stick with H&R or some other better known brand.

I dont know. For that price, you can get brand new HR springs, in the box. Maybe if it were like $100-$150 cheaper, it would be a consideration, but thats alot for some company I never heard of.

That was my thought, too, after doing a little research. I read a lot of less-than-satisfactory comments about the JAMEX springs. That was enough to spook me. Then when I saw the prices, there was not doubt.
