dearly beloved...

Dearly Beloved,

We are gathered here today to mourn the passing of a Car, a wonderful car brilliant in its pearl black glory, to the hands of another. Some would say that a car does not feel, does not speak, does not hear... But I am here today to say that this Car, this 500E, felt my joys, heard my sorrows, and spoke to me its pains so that I could fix them, its triumphs so that I could trumpet them to all that could hear and would listen.

Yes, this was a great car...that now passes from my world to another's, reduced to the originalness of its birth-state, devoid if its EVOII wheels, its AMG door sills, and yes, even, devoid of the mighty AMG suspension and exhaust.

And, indeed, even though we may mourn the passing this Car, we can rest, assured that in the other's world it will continue to live gloriously and breath fire along the hiways of perilous medocrity, and continue to subdue the unmeasured, the poorly constructed, those vehicles the existence of which is justified only by economies of scale and the demands of transient fads.

We can also rest, assured that this Car will return, resplendent in shimmering silver, to once again don its AMG cladding and more. Yes, it will return. I am sure, that if it were still with us for just a moment longer, it would ask only that we have faith.

Amen

I'm sorry for your loss, I really am.

Not to be disrespectful toward your former steed, but what are you going to do with your spare parts (like that suspension)?

My deepest condolences on your beast's passing

During this your time of grief, and in the spirit of brotherhood, I am opening my doors to provide a wonderful home for the bereaved suspension and exhaust that they may live to fulfill their manifest destiny. Lest they suffer an unspeakable fate, forgotten in a corner...ashes to ashes...rust to rust...

Thank you, thank you so much for your kind condolences. But those tokens of my fair beast I will keep close since I am sure that they will live to ride again after the great, furious storm of home rehabilitation has been exhausted and the breast of the ancient dragon of depreciation has been laid bare and mightily impaled. Thus will a silvered phoenix rise and the taught suspension be called to serve and the exhaust again will breath fire into the faces of the slow, the apathetic, the unwashed.

Until then, I'll be having fun with my 16V!

Ross:

Mostly its the fault of a house rehab project run-amuk! I've got a new foundation and about 1200sf down to studs with all new plumbing and wiring to come, not to mention the finishes. I didn't want to get to end with no money for kitchen cabinets but a nice car in the driveway. I figured, better safe than sorry.

I hear'ya John!

When the time comes, maybe you'll get lucky and find a low mile Silver E600 with low miles in mint condition at a ridiculously low price!

Hope the project unfolds smoothly for you and may we have a late winter this year!

Unhappy you poor devil

I would just assume to shat in a bucket and sleep on the floor then part mit meiner liepchen. Hope your new addition is as satisfying. Look forward to hearing about the replacement. Are the new appliances at least Bosch?
